Hello Sir,

As my internet is shared through cc proxy
I have to put proxies to all of my programs so that they can run.
Unfortunatelly the only one I cannot get running is outlook express.
When I try to edit the outlook proxy settings it sends me to Internet Explorer's settings
(which makes me think that outlook and internet explorer share the same proxy settings).
The strangest thing is that IE runs with no problems
but outlook express cannot connect to the server.
It says that the server cannot be found (both incoming and outgoing)
Could you please advise me how to make the outlook running.
Also I had try to install squid 2.7 proxy on win2k8 but i m getting some error with squid service is not runniong on win2k8 it says create services failed ...please advice me which proxy server i can use our network ( my task is only i want 2 secure internet & block some sites on my internet and outlook should be a work )

Thank you very much.
Have a great day,

Regards
Ashok

Jana server is a proxy server to share internet connection between multiple computers. As long as related port is allowed, MS Outlook will be able to send and receive emails. However you need to enter your email provider's parameters correctly. (i.e pop.yourISP.com smtp.yourISP.com) .

If you cant setup post your question and let me know your email provider so i can tell you possible solution.

Good Luck

  • Username. For example, if your e-mail address is [email protected], your username is "someone."
  • Password.
  • Incoming mail server name. An example of an incoming mail server is "pop.microsoft.com."

Getting outlook to work; won't connect to server

Hi! Thanks for using FixYa to solve your problem. Basically, Outlook needs to know what your outgoing and incoming servers are, and how they are configured, in order to send and receive your e-mail correctly.

The incoming server is the e-mail that you receive from other people. The outgoing server is the e-mail that you send to other people. I would advise the best thing that you could do is to call your Internet Service Provider, or ISP (like Charter or Verizon), and ask them the following questions:

1) What is the address of the incoming e-mail server? (like pop3.charter.net) -
usually this is a POP3 server.

2) What is the address of the outgoing e-mail server? (like smtp.charter.net) -
usually this is an SMTP server.

3) What is the port for the incoming server?

4) What is the port for the outgoing server?

5) Is this an encrypted connection?

6) Does either server require authentication (usually the incoming server)

In addition, please be sure that you use the correct username and password for your e-mail that your ISP provided you. This is likely going to be different than the username and password that you use to login to your ISP's website (it is for Charter).

POP3 and SMTP are "protocols," or languages, so to speak, that your ISP's network uses to "talk to" other servers to send and receive your e-mail. As long as these settings are configured correctly, Outlook should have no problem sending and receiving your e-mail.

These same methods work for other e-mail clients like Mozilla Thunderbird and Incredimail.

When you create a new account in Outlook by the way, Outlook will try and use an encrypted connection. If your ISP does not use encryption, you will wait a good long time and then Outlook will tell you it can't find or configure your e-mail s ervers. If that happens, just tell Outlook to use a non-encrypted connection, and then it should find all your e-mail server's settings from your ISP just fine without further intervention.

I do hope this helps! Take care!

Configure ms outlook 2007 to access my office mail it shows my inbox mail but dont shows my outbox mail or sent item & also contact list .Before outlook configure i access my outlook through web mail ....

ahhhh ok you want to access your Sent mail folder and contacts which you used when you used Outlook Web Access(OWA) "outlook through web mail" to connect to your Office Exchange mail server

in order to get this you have to configure Outlook 2007 to connect to exchange server. Do the following steps
  1. if you are running outlook close it as you can not configure exchange accounts when it is running
  2. if you are running vista, xp or 7 click on the start menu and right click on email and go to properties
  3. click on email accounts
  4. select "view or change existing accounts" click next
  5. click on any of the previously configured accounts and remove them
  6. click add
  7. select microsoft exchange server click next
  8. type name of the exchange server (you must get this from your administrator) and type in your username (name which you used to use through web mail) click on next
  9. click on finish
  10. open outlook 2007 and you should see all your previous contacts and sent items
hope this helps

I cant send messages through outlook 2007 just receive (0x800ccc80)

If you're unable to send mails, it can be related to a problem with the configuration of Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). Verify from your ISP your incoming and outgoing mail server.

Go to Tools> Account Settings> Email tab.
Select your Email account and then click on Change.
Double check if incoming and outgoing mail sever are entered correctly.
Click More Settings button.
Go to Advanced tab and enter 110 for Incoming Mail Server port, and then enter 25 for Outgoing Mail Server.

** you could also verify from your ISP if they uses a different port for Outgoing Mal Server.

How to transfer all my outlook email info to my laptop

There are are couple of thing we need to clarify before sorting this one out.

First of all where are you puling the mail from. Are you poping from an ISP mail server or are you using microsoft exchange.

If you are poping the mail down to outlook then more then likey the mail is going directly into a pst file.

If this is the case there are two thing you can do.

1. Share the pst file so PC A uses the pst file locally and PC B maps to the pst file. (note you will not be able to have outlook open from both machines)

2. Setup the same email profile on pcb and download to pst. (this option is not ver good though because your mail will be split over two machines.

Unless you are a businness and have your own mail server I think the best option would be to leave the mail setup on pc1 and remote control pc1 from pc2 through a remote control protocol like RDP or VNC

As sharing pst files is not desirable.

When I forward my email it goes to blank page and wont let me send mail

Chek with your internet provider (ISP) to make sure have your e-mail accounts setup right. My ISP uses POP-server for incoming and SMTP for outgoing mail. From: outlook express tools/accounts/mail/porperties/server: in server your POPand SMPT should look the same. Larry

Outlook 2007 incoming emails keep coming from the server multiple times

If your getting duplicate emails from the same server, either #1 you've configured multiple email accounts for the same email address or #2 see below.
You will find these setting under TOOLS/ OPTIONS/ MAIL SETUP/ Click Email Accounts, under the Email tab, click "change". This will list all accounts. delete any duplicates for the same email address.
#2 If there are no duplicates in Outlook its possible you've told your email server to forward your email to you.
What Outlook does is retrieve this mail from the server, so doing both would result in duplicates as well
Let me know if this helps
