Regza Troubleshooting Out of the box and on for 5 minutes (literally) when the screen went black and has remained that way ever since! Connected via a Monster HTS1600 powercenter so cant believe it is a surge; must be a defect.

When the screen goes black, have you tried to go into setup on the remote. Adjust the brightness of the screen.
Or as I am sure you have done to restart the TV when the warning sign comes on the screen that the TV will go off affter 5 min.
The classical action is to disconnect both the router and the box that keeps all the stations in it. Disconnect for 2-3 minutes, connect again.
I do apologize for not knowing the name in English. ( english is not my mothertounge)

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
Verify that the AC power cord is connected securely to a working wall outlet.
Unplug the power cord of the television from the AC outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 1 minute.
Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.
Attempt to turn on the television.
NOTES:
If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service will be required.
Make a note of the STANDBY or TIMER flash pattern when referring the television to service.
Lines can be cause by your T-con board or by the screen itself. The only way to know is by replacing the T-con board. If they go away then it was the T-con board if they do not it's your screen that is bad. When changing the T-con board it is also a good idea to change the ribbons that connect it to the screen.
