Panasonic (PT-56HX41PF) rear-projection tv with no picture

I have a Panasonic (PT-56HX41PF) rear-projection tv that has no picture or sound. The tv came on for a few seconds and then went off. The red power light started flashing three times. I know this indicates a certain failure, but I have not been able to find the specifics. Is this something I could replace myself?

The three blinks indicates a convergence IC fault. The convergence ICs must be replaced with the manufacturer replacement part. Use only the original replacement part. Your set uses STK392-110 convergence ICs.
These ICs are mounted on a large heat sink. Yes, you can replace it yourself and save few hundred bucks. But you must be knowledgeable enough on how to solder, resolder and use a multimeter.
You will need:

  1. Convergence ICs
  2. Heat sink grease or thermal compound
  3. Soldering iron
  4. Solder lead.
  5. Digital multimeter
  6. Solder pump
  7. Small side cutter
Feel free to inform me if you decide to replace the ICs yourself

It is. And I hope you some cash set aside for this extremely costly repair.
I once had a rear projection TV and was told by the repairman that each of the 3 flourescent lamps run about $200.00 to replace.
Needless to say I did not get it fixed

Replace IC Convergance chip in Panasonic PT-56HX41PF

Enter the tip of a pointed knife between the left side edges of the connector (circled in black in the attached pic) and gently tilt the knife away from the connector. Do the same on the right side. The connector should pop up.

Interested in an older model panasonic

You can not buy a extended plan. I would pay no more than 500.00 for a excellent condition and picture quality.

Yea, you have to have the two convergence Amp IC's replaced. Should run you about 300 bucks or so. Good Luck
