Backlight on flip open screen comes on for a few days then off for a few days when phone flipped open. Backlight on keypad always works. Assume it is ribbon cable failure -- how to disassemble and possibly repair??

My samsung d600 phone does not display anything when i turn it on however the backlight only comes on what can i do to fix this problem can you please help me

hello,
from the fault mentioned about the screen not coming on only the backlight, are you sure the phone didn't fall. if it didnt, then i can assure you that the problem is from the flex, that connects the screen to the keypad as a result of damage on the slide which is common in flip and slide phones.

the solution is for you to replace the flex of the phone. also known as the slide.

goodluck.

V3 outer screen

There's a tiny magnet in the top of the flip, near the hinge.. try taking a small magnet and hold it over the keypad near the hinge, and see if it doesn't think it's closed, if that magnet didn't get put back in the flip, then the phone won't know it's closed.

good luck!

To change the backlight setting:
1.Press Menu/Ok >Settings >Display >Light Control > Backlight Control.
2.Select how long the backlight should stay on.(If you
choose Flip Open ,the backlight stays on as long as the
phone is open.)
3.Press Menu/Ok .

Thank you for using Fixya

Screen not lighting up

even if you flip the phone closed the blank screen still stays white. i think the problem was the charger i had. it was to a razr and the dc output is not the same so i think i might of overcharged it at one point or time. what i did was let it run down till completely dead then charged about 10 min. when you turn it on just try to push as many as the buttons as you can at once.. mostly the top ones and soft keys. that might get the screen to come on.. then if it does change your backlight timer to like 5 seconds so when you use your phone the screen will go out when your done and it will not drain your battery.. well i hope it helps. it worked on mine

Blackberry Pearl 8220 backlight slow to respond

That sounds really annoying. If its not a hardware issue maybe you could look at the screenlight app to force the light on.
