I have the Sampo PME=4256 42 in Plasma HDTV ready. I am not getting a picture only a black screen, but I get there's the display on the TV that says there is no signal from my satellite dish. I hooked up another TV and it works fine so the problem is with my plasma. Any suggestions as to what it may be?

A digitalizing picture is most likly a bad connection on a screen driver cable or the driver itself is intermittant or the power supply has an intermittant filter on the substain B+ line. hope this hellps.

SOURCE: Sampo plasma TV 42inch

a few things to look at , verticle lines.. sustain boards or one of the screens film cables became cut or broke an internal connection in the film. resulting in the need of a new pdp modual (screen) i am also aware that this model uses a media box in the back that fits into two 20 pin or so connectors, remove, make sure all pins are straight and clean them with acetone and a brush. re-plug the media box and see if its ok, if not look at the sustain boards y&z respective of what side of the set its on. Keys on the set, ive had the vol keys get stuck , i notice i had to back the screw out that holds the button panel just a bit to free the keys..its in a small spot on the bottom left, looking from the back (open) give it a turn and a half and try it.

SOURCE: need universal remote control code for maxent 42" plasma tv?

I hope that you have gotten this resolved, but if not, or if you have any other questions, here are the codes and some simple steps to run through.

1. Hold down the clear TV button until all lights light up at the top of the remote
2. Punch in a 3 digit code (provided below)
3. Press the # (POUND) button
4. Try powering the tv on/off, and the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over from step 1 with a different code

If all connections and the tuner have the same issue, you either have a power supply issue or a bad digital board.

Sampo PME-42S6 black screen

I have the exact same problem and sent an e-mail to Sampo in Taiwan today (March 3rd) with a technical explanation and description of the problem you have reported. I included information on the status of the LEDs inside the unit. My suspision is that the power distribution board has developed a fault. I am going to try to find out if a schematic is available to repair the board or if a new board can be purchased. I will provide an update when I have one. Glenn
