Hi there,

Firstly, make sure the lens cap is not on the lens :-)

1) turn Standby switch to: Standby
The camera power indicator will light up (red) and PAUSE will appear in the camera display. You should now be able to see an image on the viewfinder.

2) Turn the Program Selector to: Easy

3) Press: Record

If you cannot see anything through the viewfinder at this point, then there could be a serious problem with your lens/iris function and may require technical assistance.

    Also...

If you meant the Camera "IS" recording onto tape, but you cannot see anything on the LCD screen, then you may need to activate the LCD screen but pressing the MENU button (while in camera mode) and turning LCD screen to "ON".

    Cheers,

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos

Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.

I was using my camera and the viewing screen went blank. The battery is fine, there is power... you can see info on the small view finder but nothing on the screen

hello,
You may have accidentally pressed the DISP button on the back of the camera.
This turn the screen off/on.
Try preesing this button when the camera is on
I believe this button is the up button on the back
Hope this helps

SCREEN AND VIEW FINDER BLANK

Is the battery dead? Try taking it out and charging it, then put it back into the camera.

Also, you can try using another battery of the same type.

Canon CCD GL1

Hey hill,
This happened to me one time. Judging from the date of this, you probably have found a solution. The bottom line is that the camera has accidentally been placed in "Standby" mode. It is the lever surrounding the back of camera record button. When this is moved to standby, the VCR mode works, but nothing for the Camera mode. Hope this helps.
