Fridge stops working when power goes out.

The past few days we have been having power outages because of thunderstorms. when we have a power outage the fridge stops working immediatley after. a few days later the fridge will just start working again. i know its not the circuit breaker. should we have a repair man come in. the fridge is not just yet 2 years old. We have a Kenmore Elite double door ice/water front. Our power was out for approxiamtely 36+ hours. When the fridge came back on only the freezer is staying cold. The main side is luke warm and we are losing our food.

It appears my problem was combined with another persons problem w/their refrigerator.

I'm Surf Girl and the Kenmore Elite was off for 36 hours due to power outage. The freezer side is working fine and I can hear it cycling. However, the main compartment is warm and I do not hear it running.

    The dr,

I will do so, in looking at the FF upper left rear corner there is ice forming.

I will do as you have mentioned and post another response.

    Thanks again!!!

    Hi dr,

there is no frost/ice on the coils, when I open the freezer door I do not get that air/fog that usually drifts out when opening.

The box you speak of in the FF left corner has ice and condensation.

    Thank You

    Dear dr,

What a great service you are providing and taking the time to help me save some money too!!!! as I live somewhat rural and charged a lot for someone to travel here to inspect & repair.

I will do so and I believe you are right-on w/your solution. I will let you know.

    Have a GREAT WEEKEND,

Your refrig doesnt have any cooling components in the Fresh food side (FF) it brings cold air in from the freezer to cool the FF. There can be several reasons why no air comes over, the fan in the freezer is most likely. Ill need the model # to help diagnose any more.

  • Anonymous Jan 16, 2008

It looks to me that you refrig has a electronic damper (an electonically controlled door) that opens to let air in the FF and closes when it reaches proper temp. This is the air duct in the upper left rear corner of the FF. Make sure the fan in freezer is working. Then feel where damper is and see if air is coming out, its not much but you can feel it. Then try and open the freezer door see if air comes out then. Let me know what you find. Also look at the coil in the rear of freezer for frost buildup or any other ice blocking the air flow.

  • Anonymous Jan 18, 2008

Ok there is probably ice blocking the air from entering FF since you see Ice there. Defrost with a hair dryer with the refrig turned off. This should restore its function\.

Glad to help let me know how it goes....

Wii won't turn on after a power outage.

Hey, recently had a power outage and now your Wii won't turn on?

Well unless your Wii is completely fried from the storm then this should work (It has for me every time I have had an outage).

After you find out it's not getting power then just unplug the power cable from the wall and from the Wii. Normally I unplug it for about 12-24 hours then you go plug it back into the wall, plug it back into the Wii, look at the power button and if it is red/orange then it has been fixed and you should never have a problem with it again unless you keep it plugged in during a thunderstorm/power outage!

This has happened to me about 8 times and this method worked every single time!

Hello I have an HMCF7W1 Magic Chef freezer, after a power outage the power light comes on, but the Run light will not turn on and everything is thawed. What can I do?

Perhaps the power outage, was caused by your freezer?
When you think a reset would help, the run light should come on, after a little while. But perhaps only the thermostat is defect.
Be aware there can be so many causes, and none has to be related to the power outage, for your freezer not to work.
It would be virtually impossible to see what is wrong, from a distance. Better try to bring the food to a working fridge and call a tech to solve the problem.

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

The picture of my Samsung DLP tv is getting darker. We have had several power outages over the past few days as a result of the hurricane. Do I need to make an adjustment?

Yes, or it can also be a burned fuse, you can take it to a service center and repair it yourself.
Or maybe the power outage just disconfigured the Tv try resetting it.

I had a power outage in my neighborhood the other day and ever since then my wii isnt turning on. what my be the problem?

Whenever I have a really bad thunderstorm that ends up in a power outage my wii does the exact same thing...

I don't know what the cause is but what you should do is just unplug it for about 12 hours (about how long i leave it unplugged everytime), plug it back in and if it is the same problem as I have it should work fine (until another power outage...)

BUT if it still doesnt power up leave it unplugged for another 6 hours, after that if it still wont turn on id call nintendo and find out what the problem is...

Frigidaire side-by-side stopped working

I would chech the components on the compressor. Take the cover off the compressor power terminals and inspect the relay for damage. The power outage is not a concern but the power surge could definately be the cause. hope this helps.

Power outage

It sounds like it got fried by that power outage, did you have a surge protector on it? If you just bought it in December it should still be under warranty. I recommend you call Emerson and see what they can do about it.

Fridge stops working when power goes out.

Good possibility that the electrical contacts have failed (burned/welded) in either the defrost timer (part# 68233-3) or the Cold Control (part# 61002085. An intermittent failure is extremely difficult to track down. Both of the parts I listed total about $80. You can purchase them and install them for less $$ than having a professional do it for you. We would obviously charge more because we would absorb the cost of warranty, labor, drive time, etc... If you choose to replace these components, UNPLUG THE FRIDGE BEFORE HAND!
