Stuck in 'set 1'

Whenever i touch a button, any button, on my remote, the display on the dvd player shows 'set 1' for a few seconds, then goes back to 'play'. i can use the buttons on the dvd player, but since it only has a play and stop button, use is very limited. ideas, anybody?

Had this same problem and found the solution elsewhere on the net. Hold down the "1" button and the "Enter" button for aprox 10 seconds while pointing at the player. This "resets" the remote. I was skeptical when I first read this solution but it worked for me!

I had a similar problem (it showed "Set 2" in the display instead of "Set 1", but highly annoying nonetheless). I tried the solution as presented (holding the "1" button and "Enter" for 10 seconds), but it didn't work. Rather than giving up, I put on my thinking cap, I tried (wait for it.....) holding the "2" button while holding down the "Enter" button. It worked. So, I suppose, it comes down to whichever "set" number is being displayed being used in conjunction with the "Enter" button to reset the remote.

Thanks for the help, and I hope my alternate solution helps out someone in need,

Allan

When i push the buttons on the remote it keeps saying set 1

The remote is probably set to another command mode (for example, SET2, DVD2 or RC2 depending on the model unit) or the batteries were replaced recently, so the remote needs to be reset. You can try this: take the batteries out of the remote (as if to replace them), press any button to clear the remote's buffer, then re-insert them. Point the remote at the player, then press and hold 1 and ENTER/OK buttons together for approximately 10 seconds, then release. This should restore the remote's function back to your player. This 'remote reset' must be done whenever the batteries are replaced, otherwise either the remote will not function correctly, or the device will not recognise it.

Very simple, takes a few seconds or so, and costs nothing to try.

I have a Sony RDR-GX360. Some how I have changed the command mode from DVD1 to DVD 3. Now my remote has frozen and I can't do anything with the DVR player. Is there a reset button or please help.

To fix the Sony remote dvd-1 dvd-2 dvd-3 issue is to take the remote for that recoreder into another room or unplug the dvd recorder a moment. Then hold down the enter key and the number of the mode its stuck in ie if its stuck in dvd-1 mode hold down the enter key and then the 1 key. hold both buttons together for 3 seconds. After this go back into the room and try it or if you unpluged tthe player replug it back in. The remote has to be away from the player to work. again example

get away from player different room so it can not sence remote. Hold down enter and 1 button for 3 seconds and then try it
if its stuck in dvd-2 mode dold down enter and the number 2 button together for 3 secondsd and try it. The idea is you have to be far away from the recorder so it dosent recieve any inputs from the remote while doing this.bigsmile.gifclap.gifagreed.gifpuh2.gifbowdown.gifeek.gif To fix the Sony remote dvd-1 dvd-2 dvd-3 issue is to take the remote for that recoreder into another room or unplug the dvd recorder a moment. SCREEN WON,T STAY LIT UNLESS I TOUCH IT

You are simply in blackout mode. This is so at night you aren't blinded by the glow of a screen. Here are instructions right from the manual to turn on or off.

Blackout Mode On and Off
When Blackout mode is turned on, the monitor display will turn off to
reduce power consumption.
This additional power enhances the sound quality.
1 Touch [VISUAL] on the main source screen.
The VISUAL selection screen is displayed.
2 Touch [OFF].
The backlit-display portion goes out.
3 Touch [OFF] again to cancel the display backlight.
To make the setting, set to “Setting the VISUAL Touch Button” (page
34).
If any button on the unit is pressed during Blackout mode, the
function will be displayed for 5 seconds to show the operation before
returning to Blackout mode.
While the backlighting is turned off, the function indicator

Dvd/vcr combo Panasonic dmr-es35vs

I also encountered a similar problem and did some research on the internet. The way to fix this problem is hold the 'Enter' key and while holding the enter key, press number 1 for a few seconds until the display changes to C1 or SET 1 error goes away.

This should fix the problem. Atleast it worked for me. All the best!!

Unable to change the DVD 1 Command Mode back to DVD 3 (DEFAULT) SETTING

Had the same problem when I changed the factory settings by mistake. There is no "cancel" button in the remote or the set. What worked for me was to follow the directions on P. 22 of the manual and change the remote settings to DVD 1. This is done by holding the "Enter" button and pressing number 1 on the keypad simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. Then, you go back to the "Settings" screen with the "Settings" button, change the control back to DVD 3, and reverse the setting in the remote by pressing "Enter" and the number 3 this time. Remember to hold them down more than 5 seconds. Good luck!
