My acer aspire one has a hard drive failure on the following disks IDE/SATA.I diagnosed it then got the following report. HDD doesn't respond to system commands Boot sector damaged read time...

You need to format your hard disk. Please note that formatting will erase all you data from the hard disk and all the software including the Operating system.

If you have your OS master CD you can insert it in the cd/dvd drive and restart the laptop. This will detect the OS CD and try to install it. In the installation process there is an option "Format your hard drive". You should select that option. Then it will format, mark the bad sectors, create a new boot sector and install the OS. You will be just fine.

DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

your system either does not detect a bootable disk, or the HDD has failed. Disconnect any floppy disk, USB storage devices connected to the computer and make sure the HDD with an OS installed is the primary boot device. If you get the same error, remove and reconnect the hard drive. If all else fails, try repairing or reinstalling Windows. If nothing works, you may need to get a new HDD.

When i turn my computer on i get a message that says, disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter

Your boot file on your hard drive may have been corrupted. You need to start the computer with your operating system disc in the drive, and hopefully it will be able to repair your operating system. good Luck!

Medion akoya e1210 notebook. failure to boot pxe

Failure to boot PXE 061 is a BIOS message that indicates 2 things:
  1. System failed to boot to the hard drive
  2. System failed to boot to a network connection
The apparent problem is failure to boot to the hard disk. If the system was running yesterday and there have been no hardware changes to the system, then most likely failures are:
  1. HDD failure (Replace the HDD, reinstall OS and applications) I hope you have information backed up.
  2. HDD not being detected by the motherboard due to connection issue (Remove HDD and reseat it, then see if seen in BIOS) If no change replace hard drive, if new drive not seen, replace motherboard

Disk boot failure

Hi,

Technically you can copy all the data from one to another hdd but not the operating system

You have to install your operating system (windows, linux or MAC) on your new 500gig hdd and then copy your data from 60gig hdd.

Disk boot failure

sounds like a hard disk drive problem. If you are comfortable with working inside your computer, you can open the case and remove the cables to the hard disk, and re-connect them again firmly.

Disk boot failure

After making 100% sure you have no diskette or CD in any drives the conclusion may well be that the disk is ruined. You ay try to boot from a diskette or CD and see if you can access the disk then. (see www.ultimatebootcd.com for instructions to make a boot CD) "The ultimate boot CD" has a few tools that might help you out. Since you can't boot you must make it on a different computer, though. You may also try to insert the disk in a diffe rent computer to see if it can be booted there. Also make sure all cables are properly connected.
