I turn the tv on and there is a constant buzzing sound what is it?

Hello
If the picture is correct in all resepect, and only a buzzing sound only comes from its inside circuit, it will be due to a loose core fittings, on any one or two ferrite cored transformers inside the power supply sytem. There are transformeres of small and large types, both in power supply and other boards. We have to find out which transformer makes this buzz sound during working. For this, you have to open your TV, and power it ON, and listen the the sound carefully, and detect the transformer which makes this noise. After finding the exact one, this loose core contact can be fixed with the help of Super Glue or similar fast acting adhesive. Just put three or four drops of adhesive in between the core will rectify your problem.
If there is no picture at all and a buzzing sound like this is heard from your TV, the inside circuit has some short in it and has to be detected and rectified. OK>

My vizio is now making a annoying buzzing sound coming from the back of the flatscreen...and the tint of the picture is darker...what might this be?

Power supply is straining. Check for bulging caps on the power supply board. The AC cord will lead you to that board.

My laptop speaker won't stop buzzing. It began

A buzzing/humm sound could be a earth loop problem. This is caused by connecting amp equipment into different mains power outlets.
Use a power board and connect all your amps and laptop to the one power board.

Buzzing Noise

It really sounds like your power supply is having problems with heat and not enough cooling inside your tv. You should if you can take the back cover off, also, and blow out all the lint and dust that has been drawn into the tv over time. Usually a couple of years is enough to build up dust and lint that can cause tiny static discharges inside your set. If there is a way of keeping your set cooler by placing it in a different position where there is sufficient room for air to circulate without restriction around it, that would help as well. The power supply the one with the power cord going to it from the inside should be your culprit. Good luck and God bless.

Quasar 1989 tv makes a buzzing motor sound

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, if you have confirmed that the source of the buzzing sound is from inside the TV, then that would indicate a component about to fail or would need attention. Let us try process of elimination:
  • tuner - most unlikely, the tuner is responsible for selecting the channel. No component/part of the tuner could make such a mechanical buzzing sound;
  • speaker(s) - most unlikely, the speaker could have a buzz but generally would not affect the video nor cause snow (weak TV signals);
  • transformer - a strong possibility although without knowing the exact model, at most generic ideas; power transformer, flyback transformer, horizontal drive transformer (unlikely);
  • arcing - another strong possibility. This could be caused by damp, dusty surroundings of the components especially at the FBT area. Another area that could have adverse effect when dusty/damp would be the anode cap.
This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

No Power

Hi: That could be the power cord itself shorting out right near where it plugs into the set.

DO NOT hesitate removing the plug from the AC wall plug, since fires have started this way!!

If its the cord you can replace it or if its inside the set it will need repair.

Buzzzzzzz

Hello to all you buzzers, I have the answer to your problem. First this is what's happening. The buzzing is coming from the power relay. It vibrates at 60hz because the power supply filter capacitor is not doing its job hence you have a rough d.c. pulse going to the relay.To solve the problem remove back of t.v. slide circuit board out (you will have to disconnect white wire from degauss coil,located on left front) look for a blue box approximately 3/4"x1 1/2" this will be the power relay. Now look for capacitor location #c622 near the relay. This capacitor should be 470uf 25v. Remove and replace with 470uf 35v capacitor, connect white degauss wire temperarily put back on and give it a spin. Hope this solves all the buzzin,robert
