Black plastic "ring" that fits over the spindle on the motor base snapped

OK...admittedly, I was trying to puree some frozen strawberries with a little liquid. When I turned the blender on, the blade apparently met with too much resistance, thus causing the black plastic ring that is somehow threaded onto the motor base - and which helps transfers the spinning motion of the motor spindle to the blades - to snap in half. Is there a replacement part I can purchase, or am I basically out a blender? Thanks.

We bought the black plastic ring but can not put it on the Cuisinart blender because we can not get the orginal gold "washer" off to put on the new ring.

We are looking for a repair shop so we can take it there. We live in Raleigh, NC. Do you know of a repair shop here or will we have to send the blender in?

I had the same problem, the black plastic ring broke in half when I tried to blend a partially frozen drink with some ice. is this repairable and if so how?

had the exact thing happen and cannot find the part or just the base motor. If anyone figures this out please let me know! Unreal that a $2 part made of plastic will cost $79 for an entirely new blender. What a rip off.

I can manually turn the blades inside the glass pitcher and I can turn the piece on the top of the motor base into which the pitcher blade attachment fits.

One of the parts is not being driven properly. Either the clutch on the top of the motor is not really attached to the motor shaft OR the clutch on the bottom of the blade is not engaging with the motor clutch OR the blade clutch is not properly attached to the blade shaft. On some models if you put the rubber sealing ring in the wrong place between the beaker and the blade housing it is enough to lift the clutches apart. The rubber wing goes between the beaker and the blade housing, not between the blade housing and the blade retaining ring.

I have had my Cuisinart SmartPower blender for about 10 years now and it has worked great. Recently there has been a black dust/stain/residue that is on the underside of the bottom collar/blade and on the...

At 10 years you are heading to replace it. With the blender bowl removed, try turning the connector the goes to the blades. Then do the same with the connector on the base. Whichever one doesn't turn easily is the one that is failing. Usually there is corrosion in the spindle of the jug and this causes tightness which in turn causes the connectors to shred. The tightness cause friction, which makes the plastic parts get hot. The blade should spin easily, the connector on the motor, not quite so easy. On some blenders you can switch the base on with out the jug being on it. Run it for 30 seconds and then switch off. If it stop dead, then problem is with the base and the spindle that goes to the motor. In a catering environment, I had a Hamilton Beach, shatter the base connector after 2 years. With blenders, you get what you pay for, Cuisinart aren't bad, but there are better makes if you use them a lot.

the part is Black and Decker Blender Base Collar Ring BL5000-11
However these are prone to cracking. I ordered a second after my first cracked, and the second one cracked after just a couple uses.

I can no longer unscrew the plastic part that the glass container fits into on my old Waring 18BL28 blender. It is a simple 10 speed that works perfectly.

Something sticky is in the threads... Try very hot water in the sink as a start, while boiling some water on your stove. With the glass and plastic preheated, install them to the blender base which must be unplugged for the rest of this adventure. Pour the boiling water in, only to about 1/3 of capacity. Install the top cover to protect from the hot water. Hold the glass by the handle and with a rubber glove on the opposite corner or pour spout side. Hold high to avoid the heat from the water. Have a large burly man hold the blender base so that you may twist the glass container counter-clockwise. Stop as soon as it starts to turn the plastic ring off...and go the the sink... Continue after pouring out the hot water. Remember that his procedure is likely to cause broken glass or broken plastic and exposure to scalding hot water. If those risks are acceptable you should still take precautions to protect your flesh. Otherwise order a replacement ring and pitcher for the blender.

You can order this part Black and Decker Blender Base Collar Ring BL5000-11
I also had the ring crack and ordered another one. It cracked after just a couple uses. So, even though you can get the replacement part, I'd suggest tossing the whole thing in the garbage and buying a different brand.

Broken Part

Hi, i read your are having trouble with the tap on your blender. We pulled our blender out of the box and used it for the first time and it leaked through the base, through the motor all over the bench top.

At first i thought the tap was leaking too, then I investigated a little bit and found it was leaking through the white tension clips on the inside of the black base.

Then i discovered that there is a recess for an "O" ring, which seals the glass jug to the black base thus solving the leak.

However there was no "O" ring in the recess and now I am trying to find a replacement one.

Hope this helps.

Plastic pieces on glass jar and base are worn out and shaved down

I did the same thing. Order parts at thegourmetdepotco.com -- This problem is caused when you put the rubber gasket underneath the blade instead of above it. This causes two problems: 1. It lifts the teeth on the jar away from the teeth on the drive gear, which can grind down and break off the teeth, and 2. If the drive gear contacts the rubber gasket, it will melt the rim of the drive gear. In the future, to reassemble the jar after cleaning, first put the rubber gasket on the jar, then the blade, lastly screw on the base ring.

Power flashes but doesnt start

Yes, I know what it is. On the base of the blender jar (the plastic base) there are some "fingers" that must contact the base to allow operation to take place. Turn it upside down and look at the little plastic "fingers" around the outside periphery of the plastic base.

These fingers tend to break over time... mine only has two left right now, and it only works in one particular position as a result.

Rotate the blender jar one spot at a time until you are able to operate it "normally". I use it for margaritas, and it won't allow me to push the button for Frozen Drink unless the jar is in the right position.

I am going to try and find a replacement base (or entire blender jar) somewhere... or else I will finally have to retire my favorite blender of all time!

Maximatic EBL-1000 Elite Cuisine 10... Problem:

Brandy,
-the gasket is a flat rubber ring
-it is used to seal the space between the glass carafe and the plastic carafe base that fits into the base unit
-so the order is glass carafe, chopper blade, gasket, plastic ring...turn this on tightly
-place the whole carafe unit onto the base unit
NOTE: it does not fit firmly...suggest that you hold it firmly before you turn the unit on

so I hope that `fix-ya` works....if not...then ask.
...as any rating than this actually lowers my rank...just the way fix-ya works
