That is very unusual the laser pickup has failed in the CD side of it usually it is the other way around but anyway you need to have it replaced about a 60 dollar job

I am having SONY DAV-DZ100 DVD Home theater system. The player is reading all the MP3 format cds and If I Insert any DVD, the message showing as "can't play this disc", even its a new DVD. Please suggest the solution.
I can think of two issues.
1. It can be that the optical head is weak and so is not scanning- check with original DVD to confirm.
2, It can be due to friction of the drive, the speed of the spindle motor can cause this issue. Also check if the height of the spindle is the correct alignment to the optical unit.
It could be down to the Region of the Player or the Laser is Failing. As it doesn't play CDs then I suspect the the Laser is Failing (almost failed if it plays a cleaner but not CDs).
ive got a sony dav f200 home cinema system,it lets me play music cds but trying to play dvds(not copied or american) it comes up with and error code c:13:71. what does it mean?
I have this same problem. Plays music CDs fine but DVDs do not work. It recognises the DVD tries 3 times to play it displaying "Reading" and then moves on to the next available disk. Any suggestions?
Sounds like your TV's sound output isn't working. Check all the connections and if that doesn't do it, try hooking up some other sound system to the TV to check that it is working properly.
