Our printer melts the ribbon when printing the cards.

Not sure what your question is??? Must have been a defective card that caused the ribbon to split. Or the ribbon was worn and happened to split on that card. I hate when that happens. Please repost if you have further questions. Tim

Hi,
It sounds like you may need to calibrate the ribbon sensor.
Go to the driver icon in your printers folder.
Right click on the Pro-L driver's icon, and select "Printing Preferences".
Click on the "Advanced" button in the lower right corner. A new window will open.
Scroll to the bottom and you will see "Calibrate...". Click on that and a button appears next to it that says "Properties...". Click the "Properites" button and another window appears.
On this screen, you'll see a button on the right side that says "Sensors...". Click on it, and yet another window opens. Almost there.
Here, you'll see two sections. The top section is for calibrating the ribbon sensor, the bottom is for the lamination sensor. Remove the ribbon and close the lid. Click on the "Send" button in the top section to calibrate the ribbon sensor. Your printer should beep twice.
After that, hit cancel on the previous windows to close out everything.
Normally this fixes this kind of problem, but if it doesn't, then there is something broke in the printer, possibly the sensor itself.

take the ribbon out, and rewind it a little bit and see if you see print on it. if you dont, chances are your printhead is either bad or has loose cables going into it.
if you do see print, either your card is not aligning properly or the head lift motor might not be working (when the unit on, open the door, and press both buttons at the same time and see if the printhead does an up and down motion), platen roller is bad

In the driver go to the tools section. In the command to send to the printer box type !SA then choose send the will calibrate all your sensors. As always make sure your clean the printer.
Hi,
According to your
problem, first check that you have put the card in the printer properly. These
types of printers are very sensitive. It can make malfunction for a little
wrong with card or also with bad quality card or printer.
Check the ribbon quality
or change the ribbons which are not in good condition. Re prepare those ribbons
in cartridge and then install the cartridge properly. Check the
printer settings also and reboot it. Try this it will help you.
If your ribbon is breaking while printing a card, there area few things to look at.
