I have a Whirlpool gas dryer that suddenly stopped heating up. The dryer runs fine, the lint screen and exhaust are clean and the gas valve is on. What's next?

Check the following:
1. Does it have 220 volts (yes it runs, but dryers run on 110 volts)?
2. Check the heating element and the safety thermostats located on the heat element canister. Low air flow from any restriction like lint build up or mashed ducting or blocked air exhaust vent cap can either trip the safety stats or burn out the element. Clean dryer and exhaust ducting thoroughly and replace bad parts before placing back in service. Poor air flow is the number one problem with "No Heat" dryer issues.
glow bar igniter ... - thermal fuse ( not all models ) ... - coil on the gas valve ... - gas valve ... - thermostats ... - motor heat switch ... - timer ... - selector switch ... - sensor ... All these will cause this problem.
Sometimes this can happen when the vent line is clogged.
1. Check if the lint filter is full and needs to be cleaned. Try this first. If the vent line is kinked or blocked 2. Then check if the outside screen covering the exhaust vent if this is even half blocked with lint there will be no heat! This screen is to keep small animals out! Try checking this and if it is clogged or the spring loaded door is stuck closed. Try to clean the lint out of the corners of the flap door, and or remove the screen permanently! NO ANIMALS LIKE TO GET BURNT,IT'S HOT IN THAT TUBE! Take the vent line off the rear of the dryer and try if it works. If it does you know it's the vent line and not the dryer that's the problem the dryer.

Bless You huuum PLEASE GIVE ME A GOOD RATING BEFORE YOU SIGN OFF!
the motor overload can caouse that problem in that case new motor is needed if the dryer turn right back on after it turns off the even heat control board in panel bad if it humms are no noise after turn off and you have to let cool down the motor is the problem
Those are likely possibilities. Also check the wiring for disconnected or burned terminals especially in areas that get hot. The element comes out easily to visually check it for breaks. If that's OK I'd look at the safety thermostat.
