Hello

I am from portugual so sorry for my english :)

I am trying to update my Asus p5s800 vm but it comes with the packard bell bios (107) so i need to update to 207. It asks to save to cd but it doesn't recognize.

Any idea.

Thanks

yes, but my issue is that i have instaled the "santiago_bios_170" and need to install the "santiago_bios_0204" and the problem is that it keeps asking for a new cd to backup all information and it has it in :S

Another question. How do remove the POST ? :S

    Thanks

    :::Hi!.. Have a nice day..:::

Ok. i think i can guess it a little. eg.

    1. Did you update of your BIOS while you are running to your OS (ex. winxp/macOS/Linux), or you boot first yourcomputer into a MSDOS mode?

    2. And is your BIOS update is saved into a CD media (Compact Disc), or it was saved into a FD media (Floppy Disk)?

Furthermore regarding from your additional question about "on how you can remove the POST"?

A: POST means (Power On Self Test) you cannot remove it, that is how we will know if our computer (PC) including all the hardware installed and the firmware version of the motherboard (MB) are all properly installed and updated, and testing your CPU clock and the amount of ram you have and the processor speed, temperature is all running OK!.

---By the I'm exactly putting myself right into it and i almost visualize your problem experiencing to your PC. Hope you still give much more time when I was trying to ask you question. We cannot understand the fact if we are not questioning, and its really hard to give a soultion if me to myself are not really getting to that problem deeply.

---I will try my very best to help you with that. Until I can still dig much more info. and status of your problem or we can call it a project.

P5S800-VM/S

The best you can fit is an AGP 8X type card. They are difficult to find now, so the prices of decent cards are going up. Your computer is about 3 generations behind, You would get better graphics performance by buying a new motherboard, CPU and memory bundle. It would be cheaper in the long run, as you could then upgrade the graphics card in the future and then upgrade the CPU as well. You can still keep the case and other computer peripherals you already use. But if you want an AGP card look on the Auction sites.

I have Asus P5S800 main board

dr-afacan, You unfortunatley are not giving me a lot of info to work with. There could be several things to try. First check your cases front panel to Board connections. Then if they are correct I would swap out the power supply with anything compatible to check and see. If that PS is really OK. If you do not have the info for the board go here http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5S800-VM/e1767_p5s800-vm.pdf

Next step would be to either check the processor, possible BIOS settings or update. Or you unfortunatley just have a dead board. Asus has a good customer RMA system... Just some thoughts.....PCdok
