Check that there isn't something jambed into the charger plug itself. When it fits into the charger port, most ports have a power pin running down the middle of them. The opening in the middle of the charger plug runs over that power pin. If the pin has broken off the power port or has been bent over, it will keep the plug from entering. Also, on the sides of the power ports there is a small strip of metal that touches the charger plug when it enters the port. Make sure that these are not sticking out too far to keep the plug from entering. I would check to make sure that the charge plug is not plugged up.

Laptop shut down and wont power up

Unplug, remove battery, check for dust in fans and vents, plug in, try to reboot. If it powers up, open Control Panel, Power Options Power , set to High Performance, open Advanced Power settings, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, Adjust other Advanced settings to your preference. Has it been pulled by the cord? If you have a multimeter check for DC volts at the AC jack plug, that plugs into the laptop. Is the Transformer (brick on the cord) getting warm when plug in? Does the battery charge LED light? Try another cord with the EXACT same power specs.

Wont start up

Remove the battery and AC Adapter cord, and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then, without replacing the battery try plugging in your AC Adapter to see if you get any love. If that doesn't work, remove the AC adapter, reset the board again, and this time hold the power button down as you plug in the AC Adapter cord. If you still don't get any lights, you could try removing your memory, reset the board, replace the memory, plug in the AC Adapter, and try one more time.

Advent t1600 wont start, it used to start with the mains plugged in was told it was the battery but wont even power up in mains mode now

First try using a different ac adapter/power cord.If after trying that it won't power up it only leaves the power board where the power button is located may be bad or the power jack where the ac adapter/power cord plugs into the laptop may be bad.Alot of the time when the ac adapter/power cord gets weak or stops working at all will cause it to not charge or not turn on even plugged in.

Charger tips to small for dell laptop

A Dell Mini net book is a small and very portable laptop. The compact size makes it a good candidate for travel or just simply using around the house. Outdoor aficionados can get the most computing life out of a Dell Mini by finding a way to charge the battery outside. One method works when you are near a building while the other can be used for more remote outdoor locales

Things You'll Need
  • Extension cord
  • Solar laptop charger
  • Dell Mini power adapter

    • 1 Plug an extension cord into an available power outlet. Run the extension cord to where you are outside. Many homes also have exterior outlets. Use an extension cord that is designed for outside use. Plug the Dell Mini power adapter into the extension cord to charge the battery.
    • 2 Purchase a laptop solar charger. Solar chargers are available from several different manufacturers and may come in the form of a roll or be built into a case that closes up for travel. Depending on the charger, you may also need to purchase a Dell Mini power adapter. Some chargers work with a Dell Mini cigarette lighter adapter that is designed to plug into a vehicle's power port.
    • 3 Place the solar laptop charger in a sunny location. Open up the case if the charger is in one and roll it out flat or unfold it to expose all of the solar cells.
    • 4 Connect the Dell Mini power adapter to the power port on the solar charger. Connect the other end to the netbook. The adapter will regulate the charge coming from the solar panel and recharge the battery in the Dell Mini.
  1. Tips & Warnings
  2. Solar chargers offer less power than a wall outlet. They can be used to extend the battery life of a Dell Mini or to recharge the battery when the netbook is off.
  3. Some solar laptop chargers are relatively heavy. Take the weight into consideration if you are going to be backpacking or otherwise carrying it on your person.

My acer laptop wont turn in it just acts like there is no batterry in it and no power cord plugged in

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

There is no power from the battery or the adapter and the laptop does not recognise the adapter is plugged in. there are no lights coming on and the power button is doing nothing

Your battery maybe out of charge. Thats why nothing happens when you press the power button. The battery may not be charging because the power cord might not be working. Try another power cord.

Try removing the battery and plugging the power cord and switching on the computer. If its the problem with the power cord the computer wont start. If it starts, the power cord is working fine.

My computer will not start-up.both power and battery indication lights not on when power is switched on.power input and battery confirmed good.processor suspect faulty, please confirm.

if the lights do not come on when the ac adapter is plugged in , it may be as simple as a dead power supply. use a voltmeter and test the output of the adapter at the plug. + into the hole and - on the sleeve exterior. if no reading, or very low replace the adapter. If ok i'd check the ac jack on the laptop. they are fragile and if its loose it will need to be resoldered. Try moving the cord at the jack when plugged in and see if the lights come on.

Laptop won't a hold charge when plugged in

Remove the Laptops Battery, Plug in AC Adapter... Is it able to Stay Powered On?? Slightly wiggle the Cord Near the plug end while plugged in... Does it still receive true power??? If So, Its Not Your AC Adapter Or Your DC Jack And You should Look into Replacing Your Laptops Battery...

If You Are Not Able To Power THe Laptop Using Just The AC Adapter When The Battery Is Removed, Then You First Need To Check/Test The AC Adapter using A Multimeter To See If You Have A Faulty Cord... If Cord Is Still Getting Correct Power Through To The Plug Tip .. Then You Will Need To Replace The DC Jack (the port where your AC Adapter Plug Plugs into on the laptop)
