I have a 5515 Acer Laptop. It was working Great. I installed an AT&T sim usb for internet. It said it was installed successfully and to restart the Laptop. I restarted laptop and now the keyboard is not responding and I cannot get passed from the user password screen. Can anyone Help Me?

Hi,
theres a couple of options.
1:) you could try using an external USB keyboard.
2:) you could try inserting a system restore CD, into the CD/DVD drive. when prompted use the repair console, or roll-back to a previous installation.
3:) obtain a replacement hard-drive, setup windows. to get the system up and running, then connect your original hard-drive, via an external adaptor. and copy any required files. From external to new drive. Finally. If you can access the laptops CMOS Battery. remove it, and clear the settings to thier default Values.

Acer 5515 cd drive not working

First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .

Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.

Check the CD that you are trying to use to and ensure that it is free of dirt and scratches and the proper format compatible with your drive.

Now uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives.

Now download the latest driver updates for your CD drive model from manufacturer website & install it.

Also check on manufacturer website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.

Now restart your computer & check your CD drive.

I am having trouble finding a replacement battery for my Acer aspire 5515 laptop. Is there another model # I should be looking under?

You should use the P/N as printed on the batteries and also the voltage and current rating (higher current rating will give you longer run time)

Click the start button (Or the windows icon - typically lower left on the task bar). Choose Restart. If you can't find that, choose Shutdown, once the laptop is off, press and hold the power button till you see the power come on.

Aspire 5515 dvd wont play sound

Does the laptop play CDs?
If so then when you start a DVD and before you play the movie, go into the audio setting and configure the speakers for laptop stereo speakers.
If you cannot hear music from the CD then check :-
1. The audio settings, volume not set to minimum and mute is not ticked (enabled)
2. Device manager - sound device is enabled and working, if not re-install the sound driver.

Touch pad won't work on Aspire 5515.

If the touchpad has gone bad there's not much you can do, unless it just happens to have a loose connection. You can try disassembling the keyboard to get access to the touchpad cable and verify it but to be honest, that's an unlikely scenario.
Can you plugin a usb mouse? Or you could try an external touchpad like the Bamboo made by Wacom although that's a bit expensive. Again, it would need a usb connection though.

I'm not 100% but the 5500 series all use the same board. What is the DFE model number on the back of the keyboard?

If you can't find a keyboard for it, you could always use a USB desktop keyboard until you find one.

I installed At&t 3G Interent on my my Acer 5515. When I restarted it like it told me to my Mouse does not move. My Laptop is Kind of stuck I ordered a Recovery disk but I'm not sure it will work.

Start the computer in safe mode. Press F5 repeatedly after turning on the computer until you get the advanced option and select safe mode. Once your in safe mode, you can either go to System restore or to control panel to remove the latest software you installed.

you can connect a wired mouse to the laptop from the rear. that is the only way that you will able to do something for now.
once you have the ablility to navigate in GUI., delete the ATT wireless device driver. and restart the laptop.
if you still have noo control after that, you have different porblem. if that solved you porblem then, you need to get a different ATT wirelss card or a updated driver fro that card.
