Question about Dell Latitude C610 Notebook

2 Answers

Battery troubles Okay, seem to be having multiple power-related problems with my C610. Biggest of which is that the battery does not seem to charge. I'm assuming it's just dead-- unplugging the laptop from the AC adapter shuts it off immediately.Which is annoying, because even slightly jostling the plug can make it come loose, causing me to lose everything I was doing. Is there anyway to test my laptop to ensure that it is just a bad battery, before I go investing tons of money in replacing it? Secondly, the CMOS battery seems to be going-- my laptop will occasionally forget the time and date on startup. Buying a new battery doesn't seem difficult, but how on Earth would I install the thing? Unrelated, but still annoying... I seem to have broken the catch switch for my CD/DVD-ROM drive bay. So there's nothing holding it in place, and it falls out if the laptop isn't laying perfectly level. Is it possible to replace the catch?

1.BATTERY:

It's obvious that the battery is no longer storing the power. With no doubt that you have to buy another battery that you can enjoy the presence of your c610.

2.CMOS BATTERY:

You should have a service manual that will guide you in replacing the CMOS BATTERY for your c610. Here is where you can get the manual....................

Go to ebay to look for cd dvd rom replacement.

It is best to take computer to a computer shop to have cmos battery replaced because the computer has to be disassemled to access motherboard.

If the main battery has never been replace most likely its bad most laptop batteries have short lives.

on the otherhand with expense in mind you may want to price a new laptop from walmart they start arond 499.00 brand new

Being real careful and solenoid removed check that the ports are in position (flow or no flow) with some small wire connected to the cars battery you can place the solenoid in its opposite state checking ports again for change. Do this several times the results should be the same. remember the change this state several times and it only takes two failures to turn on the light.

No power to anything - how do I reset anti-theft system? Checked battery at Wal-mart - print out says okay low on charge. Charged battery for several hours on slow charge and then fast charge. Battery...

no... no power to anything means like the headlights are inop and such

in that case its a battery or battery cable issue

assuming you have headlights and power to accessories and the vehicle still will not start AND the theft light is flashing then YES your anti-theft system is trying to keep the car from what it thinks is a theft issue

simply pressing the unlock button on your remotes will resolve this

assuming you do not have the remotes then you will need the anti-theft computers reprogrammed at a dealer or good garage

JL 500/1 is draining my batteries. Even when the remote wire is disconnected the amp draws 2amps. I've checked all the terminals and connections and everything seems fine. What could be the problem?

have you check your battery or batteriers to make sure they are keeping charge withouth the amps hooked up check that make sure that your batteries are holding charge and if need be have someone check your charging system on your vehcle to make sure every thing is okay there if that checks out okay and your batteries are okay i dont know how old your amp is but you may have to consider haveing your amp looked to make sure its okay have some one hook the amp up you can do this your self run a volt meter to it to check your voltage and your voltage your RCA's can also draw a little power mostly from the the reciever which itself is not a problem but it you are not running good heavy gauage wire to this amp that can be so you some other options i hope i was able to help in some way

My Tungsten E2 is not charging. It has been with me for almost 4 years now. What seems to be the problem? This is not the first time though I encountered the same problem. 3 years ago I encountered the...

I had symptoms with my Tungsten E2 where the charging icon would show up when the charger was connected, however, it didn't seem to charge, because when it was removed from the charger hours later, it would still show the same percentage of charge (as read by touching the battery icon while in the favorites screen).
Tried resetting the unit, reconnecting multiple times, different charge cables, and it was always the same.
I thought it might be time for a new battery, so to check it out, I got my T-5 Torx driver, removed the four case screws, and carefully pried open the case from the top (the bottom has hooks that have to be disengaged by sliding the case half downwards after they're separated from the top)
Measured the battery and it seemed to be okay, and after unplugging the battery connector and reconnecting it, it worked normally again. Charged quickly back up to 100%, and the battery is fine.
It looks like something may get out of sync with the battery charge circuit, and by simply unplugging the battery to allow it to reset, it restored operation, no replacement battery needed.

That's a definite problem. The options tab should always be available. I would power off, take out the battery, put it back in, and power on. See if that changes anything. I've noticed that when the pantechc610 is acting funky, turning off and on seems to solve the problem.

Battery will not charge

Hi cdravi

Laptops have a power supply control section attached to, or part of the main board. This allows the laptop to switch charging on and off, and control power supply function to different areas of the machine. Sounds like you have a fault in this part of the computer. Off to Dell Service for that one I am afraid.

Dell Latitude C610 Laptop won't turn on

If the light comes on for three seconds and then go out ,generally means a power distrubution problem . remove the optical drive and memory from the system and try powering it on. If u get the same result , its time to take it to service tech , as your motherboard needs to be checked
