Kenmore 70 series clothes dryer. Model # 11068702894. It runs but doesn't get hot. I've changed the heating element once, the thermistats twice. It'll run for a short period but then it won't get hot again.

Could be your vent plugged and causing the thermal fuse to open up and go bad.

Kenmore Gas Dryer does not dry clothes.

If this is the electric version then after 15 years you probably need a new heating element, they are not difficult to install and are not terribly expensive as a DIY project.

Kenmore dryer 70 series 66722690-everything works except does not heat

It is probably either the thermostat (sensing too hot a temp) or the heating element. Either is not that difficult to change.

A word to the wise: When I replace one I like to replace both. One of the first times I replaced an element, within a month I had to open it back up and replace the thermostat. And it has happened more than once, so now I replace both.

I have a Kenmore Series 70 Dryer and I changed the thermal fuse got hot for a few minutes the model #110.74722400

The cycling thermostat must also be replaced when replacing the thermal fuse. The cycling thermostat's failure to cycle off the heating element results in overheating of the dryer which consequently blows the thermal fuse open.

Replacing only the thermal fuse should the dryer stops running and fails to start will result in its premature blowing or even the thermal cut-out (cut-off) located on the heater duct. Like the cycling thermostat, the high-limit thermostat must also be replaced once the thermal cut-out blows open. Refer to the parts diagram in the link below and look for item numbers 31(thermal cut-off), 34(hi-limit thermostat), 39(thermal fuse), and 41(cycling thermostat.

This link will help you in diagnosis/disassembly/parts.

Possibly a faulty heat element is most common failure. Fix the no heat problem and the dryer should shut off ok.
Make sure you have correct voltage to the unit before tearing apart. Again visit the link above

Kenmore Series 70 Dryer

I'm not familiar with your dryer model but general advice regarding dryers with the problem that you have described would be to ensure that any filter on the outlet is clean, whether it be a condenser or traditional external vent.

Ensure, if it is vented rather than condensing (only connected to a drain) that the vent tube has clear access to expel the damp air circulated during the drying process.

If the wash load is heating to a substantial temperature in the dryer, it isn't the element causing the problem.

Won't dry clothes

Try running the dryer with the vent pipe unplugged. There should be a lot of hot air coming out, if not the insides need to be cleaned. If it really moves air, and dries a load ok unhooked, your vent is clogged. Clean it if you can. If you can't, look into a lint trap that will work for your situation, some have a water trap, some are good filters, etc. If the air is not hot, some of the electric element may be bad. If it's gas, it could need a tune up and cleaning inside.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer Model# 110.64742400

check the thermal fuse if it is blown also change the high limit thermal cut-off fuse www.repairclinic.com shows your parts. go there and enter model number. Also check the heat element. to get into it remove the lint filter and the two screws you'll see there then pry the top up at the front corners. And through the back you should find the heat element and blower housing and thermal fuse and high limit fuse and cycling thermostat.
