When playing a game offline the game lags/skips

If you mean on online games, it could be your internet connection. If you mean when playing offline, the media could be at fault. You could also try a faster HDD in your PS3 and install your game into your HDD.

COULD BE DUE TO ALOT OF USERS ON THE SAME GAME. INTERNET HAS GLITCHES AND STROAGE, MEMORY, AND THE INFAMOUS LAGGING AND SLOWING AND SKIPPING. IS THAT EVERYTIME YOU PLAY IT SAYS THAT?

Do you use Wi-Fi or an ethernet cable? If you are experiencing severe lag, it could be a problem with your actual internet connection and not necessarily your XBox 360.

I would purchase an ethernet cable (they run about $10 over here in the states) and try that out before anything else

Are they experiencing the lag whilst playing offline or online?

the problem could be that your router cannot handle the amount of bandwidth that you need for the game, there are certain routers that can and cannot handle the amount of information needed for online gaming

The freeze ups normally happen before the red lights of doom and they are caused by the GPU and the CPU getting too hot and the soldering snaps off so they lose connection.

If you stop the heat build up you will be fine.

You can do this yourself using a good repair guide or you can send it in and they will fix it for you.

It is internal overheating.

there could be programs running in the background that are taking up alot memory and that would cause the laptop to lag, skip, etc while playing games.

Not sure of the OS your running but click on either the start button or the windows icon in the bottom left hand corner, and then either in the black space type in msconfig or click on run then in that box type in msconfig. Click on OK and then it will come up with a box in the middle of the screen. Click on the startup tab and every box that has a checkmark in it represents a program that is running in the background when you turn on the laptop.

For now click on the button that says disable all and reboot the laptop. Now play games and see if the lag, skipping stops. If it does then you can go back into msconfig and click on the boxes of the programs that you want have running when you bootup your computer. Maybe make sure if you have an antivirus program you want that running and anything having to do with the printer. This will free up memory and should allow your laptop to run much smoother.

it sounds like your internet connection is lagging very badly if it freezes on hitting the home button if you can try to move your ps3 closer to your network wireless router.

if it is only while during online play then it is your internet speed connection is too slow if it all the time while playing the game wether it be on or offline then your graphics card is not advanced enough to support this game mainly because of the amount of graphics ram on your card try upgrading to a new graphics display card! i hope this helps!

2.40 and 2.41 are bugged firmwares, id say return to sony asnd get another ps3. alot of ppls ps3's crashed cause of theres firmwarws.
