Had the heater at least 5 years or more. Date on the bottom says 06-06-97. You plug it in, the power light comes on, but the fan doesn't move. It can be moved manually w/ no problem, power on or off. If you turn the thermostat knob over the 1/2 point between cool & hot the caution light comes on. I opened it up to clean out the dust, and there was a lot of it. I used WD-40 to see if it'd help any. Still nothing. Any suggestions? The picture below is of the heater.
I have the same heater,04-08-97, have had problems with fan motor bearings, does the heater,Humm, when turn it on, this indicates loose motor bearing fan side.If so,unless you can find a replacement motor,as I have tried, your heater is on the way to the scrap yard.If you can find a replacement motor, please post it.
Since it's old and dust soaked, i'd replace it with one from walmart at about 30 bones.
it's safer to not try to revive it cause it's old and stressed out and has had juice running through it's poor, old wires for way too long.
i wouldn't take the chance on repairing it. those are just the types of details you don't hear when someone burns to death via a faulty space heater.

Same as above, except heater was not "dust-filled". The blower just died, I'm going to call the 800 number on the bottom and see if they'll sell me a new fan for a resonable price.
