The dvd player will play a movie for about 10 minutes then it gets freezes and does not play anymore. It's brand new. had it about 2 months.

    This problem is with a Magnavox 19MD359B/F7 19-Inch Flat Panel LCD HDTV/DVD Combo (Black), its about 2 months old. No,it stops in the middle of a movie, and just freezes.

    When it stops is it at the end of a track? If you maually press >| to the next track does it resume playing? Please advise

I found out this tv/dvd will not play certain movies that are rented from netflix is that their dvd have a restricted thing, and this tv will not read the movies that are on certain disks. It plays movies good that I rented here in town. So theres nothing really wrong with the player itself. I did some reading and this is what I assummed.

the DVD unit in your sharp is a self contained unit. IT is only repaired by replacing the DVD as a assembly. the cost of replacing may exceed the cost of purchasing a new one.
The most likely cause of your problem is in the brass gear assy that runs the optical pick up in the traverse deck. IT is not an available part.

Is the player new? If it's a new DVD player and still under warranty, I would return it, exchange it or possibly, consider changing brands: perhaps to a Phillips brand DVD player. After all, the Phillips corporation guarantees its DVD players will play everything, just read the box in which the player's packaged - it's the best bang for your buck. With DVD players being so inexpensive these days, the best option is to buy new. Keep computing Chomskyites.

Well I wont be as quick to buy a new player yet!!

Firstly i would clean the lens and try running it the the cover off.. That should give you some time. But yes eventually you will need a player. Also the movie that freeze in the same place every time, try that on a neighbours or friends player to be certin it works :)..

I always try to avoid spending unnecessary cash or delaying it for as much as i possibly can. Hopefully taking the cover off will allow it to cool better giving you a few months to get things in order.

Player suddenly freezes
Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).

The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)

Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:
