Hi,
If it does not fill then nothing else will work either.
First take off the hoses and check the screens going into the washer, they are usually right where the hoses hook up. Make sure they are clean and then check each hose to make sure you have water from them.
If that does not work then check that you have power to the solenoid valves. Theses are magnetic valves that open to let the water in. They are on the plastic valve body where the hoses hook.
If you have power there when you try to start the washer and no water then the solenoid valves are the problem. If there is no power there then the timer has probably gone bad.
There is a slight possiblity that the fill switch failed, but that usually fails and runs the washer over, not so that it won't fill. :-)

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

We have a Maytag A612 washer. Today it wouldn't fill all the way with cold water (for a cold water load). If I hit the Warm or Hot button, it resumes filling with Hot water, but I don't want Hot so I hit...

Turn off the cold water faucet.
Remove the water hose from the machine and the faucet.
Clean out the filter screen in the washer water valve.
Look in the hose for a secondary screen and clean it also if one if there.
Not all hoses have screens.
All water valves do have screens.

Screeching noise after water starts going in

Hi just read your posting. Now put the machine to a spin cycle and push start,Does the noise happen in this cycle? If the noise doesn't happen then try a cold water fill but turn the hot tap off first. If the noise still doesn't happen then try a hot water fill but turn the cold water off first. This noise sounds like one of your water valves is faulty. Please reply with additional information on the questions and I am sure we can rectify this fault.

Ge top loader washer agitator does not work

To check the agitator. Start the washer into wash cycle. Once started Push down on top of agitator. If it catches some times or all of the time when pushing down, then then doggets are worn, under the agitator. You`ll have to remove the agitator to see these. If by pushing down on the agitator, nothing changes, Then you probably have a transmition problem. Check this and let me know what you find.
