The ink leaves the ink-cartridge, and should flow through the ink-jets to be sprayed onto the paper.
If some of the ink-jets are clogged (blue, red) and some of the ink-jets are fine (black, yellow),
then you need to run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles, to try to unclog those ink-jets.
You have to go to the properties of the printer and in the maintainance tab do some nozel cleaning and head cleaning.
and check it should be fine
thanks
Press the ink button and select cleaning,, do about five cleanings. Print the ink quality test page (from the ink button as well) and see the quality if it improved.
If it still doesnt print its possible the ink is clogged and may need servicing to replace the printer head
You said you just replaced the ink jets. Did you clean the print heads? Here is Link on Web. If you find this helpful pls rate me. Thanks http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_MFC_210C_420CN_EN_286.PDF How to improve print quality Cleaning the print head To ensure good print quality, the MFC will regularly clean the print head. You can start the cleaning process manually if needed. Clean the print head and ink cartridges if you get a horizontal line in the text or graphics on your printed pages. You can clean Black only or three colors at a time (Cyan/Yellow/Magenta), or all four colors at once. Cleaning the print head consumes ink. Cleaning too often uses ink unnecessarily. Caution Do NOT touch the print head. Touching the print head may cause permanent damage and may void the print head’s warranty. 1 Press Ink. 2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select Cleaning. Press Menu/Set. 3 Press ▲ or ▼ to select Black, Color or All. Press Menu/Set. The MFC will clean the print head. When cleaning is finished, the MFC will go back to standby mode automatically. If you clean the print head at least five times and the print has not improved, call Brother Customer Service (see Brother numbers on page i).
the problem is very simple the magenta ink the cartridge is over or the head is been blocked from where the magenta ink comes out,
because red colour requires ---yellow plus magenta(pink)----to make it red.and ----dark yellow plus magenta(pink) -------- for brown colour.
Hope this will give you hints. To pin point directly you need to replace printer head. But before replacing please consider suction cartridge caps or nozzle by cleaning and freeing clogged airways by dettaching manually. I understand that the long time being not used has caused the problem. However if you can still use black and other colors then used it than complicating downtime in repairing procedures. Yes, you are right no need to clean deeper more than three times it will consume inks half empty. Have a nice day.
Your black, yellow, and blue ink cartridges are empty, go to your local ink cartridge store or Staples, or Bestbuy. The only ink left in the printer is the red.
