Samsung camcorder, made for JC Penney, model #686-6233. Camcorder has power but will not operate as a recorder not play back on TV. Error message is: STOP D-EMG.

Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

It's not your recorder, it's the different formats other cams are using. Your's is one of the higher end units vs the "Ebay specials"

Insert a Cleaning Cassette and it will solve your problem.

RE; smasung DC 161(i) pal and possibly other models The reason why there is no disc message when there is definitely a disc is installed is because the disc programming has malfunctioned, Its because of Samsungs poor design, after powering up the camcorder and inserting a disc, the disc will load and a green flashing light appears for a minute or two while loading if the Samsung camcorder is switched off while loading the camcorder will essentailly self destruct and their is no remedy, however that does not mean the Samsung is completely useless,the camcorder can record on a 4 GB SDHC(max 4GB) card using the switch from disc to memory card

Eject tape leaving cover open and remove battery. Re-insert battery and re-insert tape also leaving cover open. Keep repeating this process until eo4 message disappears. This worked for my GR-DVL100e after about four repeats. After getting your camcorder operational, they say it is good practice not to leave tape in camcorder when not in use.

cd recorder disk will not eject

i bought a camcorder from currys model vp dc 172w back in october. i took it to las vegas to record my wedding. its recording fine but i cant finalize the disks. iam folowing the instructions from the book. on 1 disk its trying for about 30 seconds then is saying disk error. the other disks i cant even get them to start running. can you help me please.

connect a lead via your tv video out audio out jacks. Select tha appropriate channel (You may have to go through the av channel on you tv and tune in the channel you want to record) or, video or dvd player audio out video out jacks. connect other end to your camcorder. Select on the camcorder menu video in audio in. Turn on tv. If connected to video or dvd player, press play. Press record on your camera. When finished recording press stop. Presuming the camcorder is tape, you can buy a tape adaptor to play or record your mini tapes in a standard video recorder, then take them out of the adaptor and play them back on your camcorder. You can also do all this via a computer. Also if the camcorder is disk or hard drive it can be used the same way as a regular dvd recorder to record tv programmes once connected to you t.v. I know it won't play in a dvd player till it is finalized. Leave it in camera mode, hit menu, and scroll down till you see the option to finalize. If you finalize it, it should play in a dvd player. I am having a problem with my camera(same model) where it won't finalize the disc. Any help out there?

Connect the camcorder to the VCR or TV with the AUDIO/VIDEO cable (provided) (to the A/V Outputs on External Device) 2. Set the power switch of the camcorder to PLAYER mode. 3. Turn on the VCR or TV. 4. Insert the blank tape with protection tab closed into the camcorder. If you want to record from a connected VCR, insert a recorded VHS tape into the VCR. 5. Press the MENU button, turn the MENU DIAL to highlight A/V and press the ENTER button. 6. Turn the MENU DIAL to highlight AV IN/OUT and press the ENTER button to select AV IN. "AV IN" and picture appears on the LCD monitor. OUT : Releases the INPUT mode. 7. Press the START/STOP button to set the camcorder to REC PAUSE mode. "PAUSE" appears on the LCD monitor. 8. Select the TV program or playback the VHS tape. 9. Press START/STOP button to start recording. If you want to pause recording for a while, press the START/STOP button again. 10. To stop recording, press the (STOP) button. Notes: * Recording from an analog VCR to the camcorder is only possible when the VCR is playing back at normal speed. * If you want to see the camcorder picture with a TV, set AV IN/OUT in the menu to OUT.
