Hello There are two main reaons for this fault. The first is with its power regulator board itself. If it has any loose soldering points developed, this type of intermittent fault can occur. The second is with its light engine. If you want to do this work by yourself, you must have thorough knoledge in electroncis, and must have all tools and ability to follow its schematic diagram. The most you need is patience. If you have these all, and want to do the repairwork by yoursef, inform me. I've the schematics of your tV, and all repair adjustments and proceedings. The power supply board and lamp ballast boards for Samsung (HL-T) series are shown here for your referecne. The lamp ballast board also may need to be checked.
Sounds like you have a bad green picture tube that has failed. To check this out; remove front speaker grill, remove small panel, you will see three CRT's (pictue tubes) sticking down, remove the little board on the middle tube then restore power. If TV stays on more then likely the CRT is bad but not always the driver on board could also be bad, check voltages.
Solder, solder, solder! Shut down circuits protect crts to avoid permanent damage. If any of the deflection circuits are defective, or intermittent, shut down occurs. I have not only seen bad solder on deflection circuits, especially vertical, but also intermittent connections on the yokes themselves. I've also seen shorted convergence ics cause shut down. Don't forget solder connections in the power supply.
I just took my Mitsubishi WS-65315 65" in to be repaired for the same problem and was told that it needed a new main circuit board part number 930b899005 as was told they wanted to charge me $1100.00. So I told them not to do the repair and picked up my tv and found that same part at Sears parts for only $225.00. Some of these TV repair places are theifs.
