The sections below describe the most common combinations of blinking lights, how to fix the issue, and how the issue is caused. Insert appropriate media in the In tray.

Follow each of these steps until the problem is resolved:

  1. Remove the paper from both paper trays.
  2. Press the power button once. Wait a moment for the paper jam to clear.
  3. If printing labels, verify that a label did not become detached while passing through the printer. If the paper jam was not resolved, continue on to the next steps.

Troubleshooting on hp printer/scanner/copier

Hi,

This looks like either there is an paper jam or carriage jam on the unit,

Check the rare access door weather there is a paper jam.

Remove the cartridges and try moving the carriage( the cartridge hold) left to right and right to left and check if its moving freely.

After these try disconnecting the power cable without turning off the unit and hold the On button for 15 secs and then plug in the power cable while your hold the on button.

This should probably fix the issue.

Please do let me know if there is still an issue.

Paper jam?

Check Paper light flashes but there isn't a paper related problem The check paper light may also flash if there are other problems. Verify the following conditions:
  • Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
  • The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
    1. Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
    3. Remove both print cartridges.
    4. Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions.
    5. Close the print cartridge access door.
    6. Plug the power cord back in.
    7. After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges.
    8. Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them.
  • Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. Contact HP for assistance.

The red attention indicator light and the toner indicator light are both flashing together

ON your driver check that the paper size is correct and this most commonly occurs when the incorrect paper size is selected. For example if you are printing to A4 and you have letter size installed in the machine then the system will cause an error or jam when there is nothing there.

Also within word or which ever program you are using on the document goto file and then down to page setup once in there check the paper size make sure it's correct for the paper in your machine also check the paper source. Once you have done this check the paper tray guides are correctly against the paper turn on and try printing and hopefully this will work.

Thanks J
