Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

1 Answer

Keeping a connection with multiple laptops

I have 4 laptops working off the WRT54G router. While one laptop stays connected (the closest to the router), the others will get knocked off the connection saying "limited or no connectivity". Is this router powerful enough to handle more than 1 or 2 laptops? Any suggestions?

Yes, you should be able to run about 128 wireless clients. Are the three laptops that have problems farther away then the OK one?

I was just on the internet, then all of a sudden it had issues connecting to the problems. I connected my laptop straight to the modem, its working so i know its a router problem. I have tried resetting...

Yes because you press the reset button in the back of the wireless router it changed the network name back to name to linksys automatically, also deleted the password so you should be able to connect to it and use the cd that came with it to set security on it.

Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router Issue Allows 1 Computer at a time

Your router my not be DCHP enabled or it might not be assigning the IP addresses either.

I would do a reset and start all over with your security settings and see if that works. Worst case scenario you could always turn security off when your parents or others are there.

Linksys WRT54G can't connect 3rd wireless computer

log into the WRT54G wireless router and ensure that you do not have it set up for only handing out 4 IP addresses also check the laptop to see if it is set to have a DHCP or static IP address, if it has a static IP and your network is dynamic then this is why it wont connect.

if this resolves your issue and you are happy with the answer please grade me accordingly.

thanks

Dont have internet connection on my laptop

First change your LAN ip range on WRT54g, leave the wan interface as dynamic IP client. Connect your WAN port to the DSL router interface. ping your DSL router interface (most probably your DSL router will be having 192.168.1.1). Make sure that your laptop is not assigned with any static IP (Incase you use the laptop in home n work).

I need to know how to get the router to work on my new laptop and desktop

Normally you would connect your DSL or Cable Modem to the WAN or Internet port of your router. Then you will connect your Desktop and/or laptop to one of the available switch ports. They usually have 4 of them. You use standard ethernet cables for all of the connections.

Cant connect 2 laptops through linsky wrt54g is this possible

are you connecting the laptop hard wired or wirelessly?

for wired connection, just plug the ethernet cable from the router to the laptop and it should work fine.

for the wireless connection, check on the wireless network connection. for xp, click on start> control panel> network connections> right click wireless network connection> then click on view available wireless network> then select your network.. for secure wireless connection, type the security key then click connect. :-)

WRT54G Router Hookup

All you need to do is connect the modem to the router. From the router, you will want a computer connected to it so you can configure your wireless network.
