My son-in-law purchased a used Kitchenaid Stand mixer for me for Christmas, and said he made sure it was in working order. However, when I brought it home, and set it up for use - it would not even turn on. I then took it to a small appliance shop for repair, but they could not make it work either. They said perhaps it had to do with the computer board in the machine(/) - help?!
I have a brand new KitchenAid 325 Watt mixer and it also will not run. I have checked to make sure the mixer is locked and that the outlet is working and that the bowl is locked. Food grade grease is what Kitchen Aid put into the gearbox originally. They do supply it as a spare part if you cannot find it as a non Kitchen Aid part.
I can not respond to the warranty issues. My kitchen aid mixer is past warranty as well. I live in a country that uses 220V and my kitchen aid mixer is 110V. I have been using my kitchen aid mixer for almost 4 years with no problems at all.
The converter boxes are supposed to blow the fuse on the converter before it reaches your appliance and cause any problems.
If you purchase a 220V kitchen aid (although it would cost more money) it would probably have more power because of the higher voltage.
The likelyhood of grease coming from the mixer is extremely small. As long as the beater & bowl were washed first and the shortening you used was fresh, there shouldn't be a grease taste.
