Are you trying to set up the router ? Or you are trying to connect to the wireless network. It is very easy to set up the router. I hope the following link will help you Click Here for step by step solutions
Are you speaking about the wireless connection or wired also ? if the wired connection is also dropping then try to reduce the MTU settings on the router. if it is set to 1500 then change it to 1365. or you can try to upgrade the firmware of the router. Click Here for more info about the networking
You do not need a bridge if you are using a wireless adaptor on your pc in the other room. Just set up the Belkin Plus router to the WEP security settings you want and make sure the pc wireless usb adaptor has the same settings as the router. You should be good to go.
Good Luck.
Do you remember installing a wireless adpater on the pc that you upgraded to win xp? if not, then you really need to get a wireless receiver. Or you can also check you network connections under control panel, see if you have a wireless network connection under LAN or highspeed internet, if not you really need to get a wireless receiver for your computer.
