Won't Recognize Blank Maxell DVD+R Disks that I Try to Burn!

I built a Windows XP Pro SP-2 computer using an LGA 775 EVGA nForce SLI 680i 122-CK-NF68-A1 motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo Quad Q6600 2.40 GHz processor G0 Stepping at factory clock speed, Cooler Master Real Power Pro 850 PSU, A matched pair of Corsair Dominator 1 GB DDR-2 1066 MHz PC2-8500 C5D RAM (2 x 1 GB) with factory 5-5-5-15 timing at 2.10 volts, an EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640 GB P2-N821-AR Graphics Card at factory speed, 2 x 750 GB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drives in RAID 0, LiteOn DH-16D2P08C 16x DVD-ROM (ATPI/IDE), and a LiteOn LH-20A1L-06C (BL06 firmware update) DVD Writer with LightScribe Super AllWrite SATA Manufactured Sept. 2007. I had a power cable with a loose 4 prong pin that I replaced on my Cooler Master 1000 Cosmos case, but after I solved THAT problem (burner NOT recognized by BIOS or Windows XP Pro!) I STILL could not get Burner to recognize either a blank Maxell DVD+R disk or a blank Maxell DVD-R disk. I have loaded the latest updates from the EVGA site for the motherboard BIOS, and all available drivers from the installation CD-ROM for the motherboard, graphics card, and Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 sound card. I tried unplugging the SATA Data cord and plugging it back into another SATA port with no effect...then I REPLACED the data cord with No effect! I RELOADED the CD-ROM motherboard drivers (except the BIOS update) and STILL no effect! I checked the LiteOn Website for any updates and found only a BLO2 firmware update...So, I'm wondering... what have I missed here?...

Thanks for the fast response Supermanchic! I'm sure glad I only paid $35 for that Burner! I've learned a valuable lesson: Always check power connections many, many times BEFORE you energize the system! Now I'm going to order that Plextor Burner that I almost bought when I started building this monster! I think I will mount my dead Burner on the wall as a permanent reminder that you can NEVER be too careful!...

Sounds like your loose 4 prong may have shorted the burner drive on a power on- it may just be that simple- it died...

Have an EVGA nForce 680i. Bought 2x 2 GB 6400 800Mhz of ram to replace 2x 1 GB sticks. However when I start up the system it only reads that I have 2874 MB of RAM. So I figured maybe one of the sticks is...

The reason its only seeing just under 3GB of memory is no doubt because you are using a 32BIT operating system (probably XP).
If you were to install Win 7 (X32) or a 64BIT operating system the computer would see all 4GB of RAM you have installed.

Its nothing to worry about though as the computer will work just fine. If you were to check in the BIOS you would see all 4GB of memory is there and see by the BIOS.

Download the correct driver from nvidia, and then use device manager to update the driver. If you have the correct driver installed, device manager will report that the correct driver is installed

Please help me to solve no display evga 680i sli (- -)error code

hi im josh in cebu phils.may i help you? friend try my solution ; Problem: Your Monitor Works, but Displays an Error Message Before Windows Loads If you see an error message, you at least know that video signals are getting to your monitor. Look for these common messages:
Bad or missing FILENAME In this message, the FILENAME refers to your video card's device driver file. Make sure that the driver has been copied to your hard disk and selected properly within Windows.
NUMBERxx This type of message (such as 24xx) indicates that you have a defective video card or a problem on the motherboard, or that you are trying to display in a mode that your system can't display. Check all the switch settings on your card and motherboard, and if the problem persists, see a repair technician. try to use that, good luck hope i helped you.
