Turn on tv and no sound or picture, just a "beeping" sound

The main board to your TV has the fault. Check and replace it. The work is a skilled one, and not a user reparable. Contact any experienced service technician.

I have an RCA 36"

Hi, in most of these RCA TV, we found a common problem with that strange sound.
You need electronics skills to solve this problem. The sound coming from the TV ( back cover), caused by a faulty transformer T14401 location number, part number 241319, also a transistor horizontal output is shorted need be replaced. location Q14401 part number, part number 237470. This is a difficult and you may have to find a tv shop and ask for a previous estimate of money. I hope all this clear in my explanation and if you have further questions, I'll be here to help.

Sound Fades, then TV shuts off then continues to recycle on & off

Sometims several capacitors start going bad giving you the audio problem, but I don't remember the set turning itself off. That could be a secondary problem around the flyback transformer which may have a bad solder connection. I would check that first. Otherwise, I would be tempted to go with HDTV.

Tv went dead while viewing, will not power back up

You have a short somewhere in the load for the power supply. Probably the horizontal output transistor and the flyback transformer. You need to have it checked out by a tech. You may want to get an estimate. Stargazer
