Sometims several capacitors start going bad giving you the audio problem, but I don't remember the set turning itself off. That could be a secondary problem around the flyback transformer which may have a bad solder connection. I would check that first. Otherwise, I would be tempted to go with HDTV.
You have a short somewhere in the load for the power supply. Probably the horizontal output transistor and the flyback transformer.
You need to have it checked out by a tech.
