In order to get true 5.1 surround sound you need to use either digital optical (fiber optic) cord or digital coax cord(RCA style ends) to link between your TV and your digital source such as DVD,digital cable box, digital satelitte receiver. You can route the audio through the TV but that's not the best way to go,I recommend going directly from the digital source to your surround sound receiver for optimum sound. Good luck !

I have marantz Av surround receiver model SR301 I have tried a lot but I am having sound from only 2 speaker when I put in setero mode but when I put in surround no sound from any speakers I checked all...

First off you will need to do a little bit of trouble shooting. Is the source (dvd, Blu-ray, cable box, etc...) plugged into the receiver with the standard red and white RCA cord or by an optical (toslink-fiber optic) or digital RCA (orange color code). If you are connected with a standard RCA cord then that it your problem and you need buy digital cord that both the source device and the receiver can accept (toslink - http://www.we-supply.com/browse.cfm/optical:-audio/2,779.html or Digital RCA). If the connection is now correct then you need to make your receiver do a "test-tone" to insure that a signal can be sent to every speaker (this is an internal test that just checks the speaker connections). If the tone tone operates correctly then you know the amplifier is functioning. If both of the mentioned things are now done and still not surround output then you need to check the internal menus on your source device and make sure that it does not require you to manual change a setting in the audio menu to make it work (i.e. change from 2-ch 44KHz to 5.1 or 7.1 or Dolby Digital or AC3 or some other surround sound protocol.)

Hi I just bout a LG plasma modle 50pt250,ta and im trying to hook up my surround sound to it, but I dont know where to put the RCA cables on the back of the tv?

You can't do that, this tv doesn't have RCA audio outputs. You will have to connect it using the Optical output - an optical cable is required.

TV/DVD surround sound through receiver

Try running digital audio from the source - cable/sat - to the receiver. The fewer intervening connections and entities, the better. TV's are NOT considered sound sources for high end purposes or we wouldn't have Yamaha HTR-5860's and better speakers, would we?

I have a brand new LG 50 plasma and a Bravia Sony surround sound system as well as a Cox Cable HD DVR box. I currently have it connected as such: HDMI from Bravia Sony System direct into TV HDMI from Cable...

you may have to set the input value on the bravia for optical on the input from the cable box. sometimes there is more than one way for a particular input to receive an audio signal, you may have rca(red and white), a black or orange rca type for digital, and then the optical. i would suspect you have to tell the bravia how the sound is inputed into the bravia. also , just a thought.... on the cable box there should be a volume control on the front of the box........ make sure the cable box volume is ALL the way up (it is the preamp volume).

Are you running the sound directly from the DirecTV box to the Onkyo reciever? or is it routed through the TV first? Personally if you have it routed through the TV you are losing out on true 5.1 surround. To ge that you need to have the DirecTV box connected via optical or digital output (orange connector) to your Onkyo amplifier. If you need further assistance please email me at tvtek(at)msn.com

Digital optical output for technics 5.1 surround sound receiver

I went to the HDTV plasma manual. It stated the only way the digital optical audio output would work (from this TV) was to go to the menu, select audio and turn off the TV speakers. Basically, it had nothing to do with the technics receiver.

LG Plasma 42PC56 optical digital audio out

I can't imagine your setup. Box, tv and pc speakers?
Typical setup would be box, tv and some kind audio system with optical IN. Correct wiring would be connect box to tv via scart and connect optical cable from BOX to audio system. You have to go from box not from TV since scart connection doesn't carry audio signal. To have TV to output optical audio out you would have to connect it to box via hdmi.
