The microwave model is Kenmore 721.62464201. It's arcing in the lower left corner between the door and the microwave frame. There are visible small signs of burnt paint on both the door and the frame. It also smells. What may be wrong?

This is usually caused by grease or food debris.

First these areas
should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner on a soft cloth. You can use a grille brush if it's stubborn.

Any metal chipped or charred metal will have to be sanded smooth and clean.

Then you should apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart or Lowe's.

You can find handy exploded views and order any needed parts at the Sears Parts Site.

I got a Kenmore microwave hood combination model number 721.80032 is it a hood fan to and how do i just turn on the hood fan

The model number 721.80032 is a partial model number; it indicates the build series. I found the Kenmore microwave, 721.80032700. The final 3 digits indicate the panel color and similar details.

Assuming the microwave was installed properly, it should work as a hood fan. Press the touch pad with the fan icon (underneath it says Hi/Low/Off) to get the desired fan speed. The icon is on the lower left of the control panel; it's below the Cook Time button and to the left of the Light button.

The manual for the 721.80032700 is available here: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/72180032700-kenmore-parts-manual?manualIndex=0 . The direct link to the Owner's Manual is https://c.searspartsdirect.com/mmh/pd_download/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0710653.pdf . See pages 9 and 14 for using the exhaust fan.

I hope this helps.

While cooking in our Whirlpool GH5184 microwave an arcing appeared near the L/H lower corner of the unit. After shutting it off we observed a black arc mark on the inside of the door and a small hole from...

This is caused by either carbon arcing from carbonated food deposits or metal dish or bowl being used inside the machine causing a track. Even a recycled paper towel can cause it as the towels have metal traces in them.

Arcing at door

The area will first have to be sanded smooth and cleaned and dried thoroughly.

If the cavity metal of the oven is cracked or split, you can use a small amount of steel-based epoxy such as JB-WELD to patch the crack or hole.

Once that dries thoroughly, you can sand it very smooth.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Arcing Microwave Oven

Look in cavity for any burn marks. If burn marks are present sand and paint area. You have to use paint made for microwaves. If no burn marks, Flash coming from magnetron and it would be time to replace. Yes it can be a safety concern, I would not use until fixed.

Kenmore Microwave door adjustment

Depends on the door. It likely can be adjusted they have 2 screws on the door bracket you may have to remove the cover to see them. But it also needs to be checked with a leakage meter to make sure its not leaking.

RadioShack used to make a low cost meter not certified or anything but a good way to see if its leaking.

Kenmore 721.80524500 makes a buzzing, grinding noise

Your problem is due to the "magnetron" arcing to the wave guide within the microwave. Picture someone arc-welding stuff together inside the microwave casing, that's essentially what's happening. It is a fire hazard and you should stop using the microwave immediately. As far as I know, there isn't a recall on that particular model (though there was on another similar Kenmore/Whirlpool model) so if it's out of warranty, you're out of luck.
