LED green and red light blink

Recently, my TV lost picture but had full sound and tried to reboot itself 8 times. As normal, I replaced the DLP Lamp as suggested in the Owner's Manual. After replacing the bulb, I found that the television had the same problem. After a few days or so, we turn on the television and it worked properly without any problems for a few days. Then again, the TV failed with sound and no picture. Basically over the last three weeks, it comes back and then goes away. Every time the television does not power on, I hear the fan speed up, then go quiet for a milliseconds and then continue to speed to its top speed. Since I have replaced the lamp, I do not think that it is a lamp problem. I want to fix this problem on my own but I do not even know where to begin to trouble shoot it. Reading all the other Toshiba posts, I can be fairly sure to assume that it is lamp ballast problem. Any suggestion?

I did not see any light when I tried in the dark. Do you think it's the ballast problem?

The ballast should make momentary arcing sound and orange flash in its spark gap tube when it 1st trys to light the lamp. look for it in the darkness it will be easier to spot, as you listen for it. make sure you are buying toshiba factory replacement lamp.

SOURCE: replacing ballast

To confirm if the ballast is bad check the ballast board to see if the spark gap (on the ballast board) lights when you first turn the set on. If it does than the ballast is ok.

I have a Toshiba 46hm94P. Just replaced the lamp. Now I get the TV trying to start. It will reboot 8 times, with the green light blinking 8 or 9 times while the red light is on. The TV will then turn off...

make sure the lamp cover is on because sometimes they have switches on them that turns the on when the cover is on but if its off tv might not come on. If thats not the problem then you might have a bad ballast. Call a local tv repair shop.

I own a Samsung HL-R5067W 50'' DLP. Set is about 3 years old. Recently I heard a loud pop while viewing, picture distorted, but never went blank. I turned set off. When turned on again a loud whining noise...

Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.

Sony kds-r50xbr1 turns itself off and then green light blinks 52

I too have a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 tv and the issue that you are experiencing is due to one of your fans in the rear of the tv is not working.  The tv automatically shuts off in protective mode.  Make sure the POWER/STANDBY light is blinking and not the lamp light below it.  Is the power/standby blinking 4 times in red? If, yes then its a fan that needs to be replaced.  If its the lamp light blinking then you need to replace the lamp.  The lamp is easy to replace by ordering the lamp either from Sony for $250 or find it cheaper for approx. $150 from other DLP sources and replace youself by following your manual.  I hope this helps you.
