Contact Cannon at 1-800-828-4040. The Power Shot S1 IS has been recalled for a CCD image sensor problem. Cannon will repair the camera free of charge and pay for shipping to and from Cannon, no matter how long you've had the camera or what your warranty status is. Here is the Cannon website telling about the recall: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&keycode=2112&fcategoryid=223&modelid=9824
This is a failure of the CCD or CCD components. This is exactly the sort of behavior cameras on Canon's recall list have. The S1 IS was added to the list. http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html

I have the same problem,My screen just turned pink out of no were?
When I switch on my camera and look through the view finder the picture is made up of harsh colours almost like looking at a negative of the picture. When then picture is captured and reviewed it is blurred and has a pinkish tinge. Anyone got any easy fix ideas? Or is it time to buy a better camera for less money than I paid for this one!
Yes, the Canon PowerShot S1 IS camera I use began blurring around 4 months ago and continues to worsen. I have changed batteries, etc but cannot determine why the camara can no longer focus or capture crisp images. Whether looking through the view finder or display screen, all I see now is distorted colors. The pictures are the same. Perhaps a digital processor in the camera has a limited life and is now beginning to fail on this model??
I also have the blurring problem but it is not consistant, about 1 out of 8 will not be useable. Also, sometimes the flash will not go off, about 1 out of 20, it seems to be taking longer and longer for the flash to recharge, even with brand new batteries. Many months ago, I had the horizontal streaking problem but Canon generously repaired that and I've had good opertion until recently. I think this new problem is more like one of focussing, not the CCD.
