The programmable timer/switch has stopped working. LCD shows nothing. Pressing the door no longer turns light on and off. Flipped breaker and no help. Seems like I need to buy another one after only six...

Aube timers have internal rechargeable battery that cannot be exposed to cold temperatures nor can battery be replaced when it goes bad.
Try resetting timer to see if function resumes.
Industry standard is 1 year limited warranty, so your product is under warranty.

The Aube T1032 is ordinary 7-day programmable, without astronomical capability, but it can be wired for single-pole or 3-way.
If you want same type of timer without battery, for single-pole only, Home Depot carries 15071
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15071
Advantage: no battery, and this timer can be exchanged in-store without shipping costs.

Lowes carries Utilitec 0141244, for 7-day single-pole, without battery:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Program-wire-Utilitec-LW60418.html
Lowes also carries 7-day & astronomic 0192773, single pole, no battery

Can the GE 15086 digital timer be wired to work on lights operated by two 3-way switches? The package indicates it is a single pole switch and needs a neutral wire. If it can be used, what happens with...

GE 15086 7-day programmable timer will not work for 3-way switching.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15086
It is possible to wire GE timer in place of a 3-way if you tape the other switch in one position.
Add a comment if you want help with that wiring.

There are several 7-day programmable timers that can be wired for 3-way. Each of these is wired slightly differently, and you have to look at wiring diagrams carefully. But they are completely do-able.

Is it possible to connect a digital timer(4 wires) to lite fixture with two switches? The switch I am trying to connect to is three pole and a ground

If I understand correctly, your switch has 3 poles, which makes it a 3-way switch.
You confirm this by saying light fixture has two switches.

There are two brands of in-wall timers that will work in 3-way situation. Intermatic and Aube. But only specific models of these timers work for 3-way.

The Intermatic EJ500 and ST01C battery-operated timers can work with 3-way switch. But wiring is tricky to impossible in some cases without extra wiring.
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html#ST01C

The easiest timer to wire for 3-way switch is Aube model T1032 which is a 500 watt timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Aube-timers.html
T1032 manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Aube-T1032-timer.pdf
geno_3245_147.jpg
Look at the wiring diagrams carefully.
Note that you are replacing one switch with the timer.
The second switch needs additional jumper wire added to circuit between dark-colored screw and the brass-colored screw that connects back to #1 wire from the timer.

Add a comment if you have this timer, or buy this timer, and need help with wiring.

The timer no longer working. I can only turn it on and off. It's a model that does not required voltage to work.

You posted under Aube in-wall timer.
If this is not your timer, add a comment.

Aube timers have a rechargeable battery that runs timer functions, and timer does not require 120 volts from circuit.

OK, I wrote to Aube about low temperatures affecting their battery.
Aube said, the battery is good down to freezing, and probably lower.
Lower temperatures cause display to slow down and not function, which means timer programs will not work when timer is exposed to cold temperatures.
Manual override would still work, but not programming or display.

So if timer is NOT located inside warm house, for example timer located in unheated garage or shed, then timer will not function in cold temperatures.

That being said, Aube battery is rechargeable.
Battery is not replaceable.
If Aube battery has gone bad, then timer is not repairable.

Intermatic ST01C and EJ500 in-wall timers are also battery operated. Intermatic ST01C and EJ500 battery can be replaced.
Almost all plug-in type timers also have a rechargeable battery that is not replaceable.
Several in-wall timers do not require a battery, but they need power from electric circuit.

Will this work with an energy efficient low wattage bulb (below 40 watts? Can I connect it in an old house with only 2 wires in the box (no separate ground wire)?

I wrote a page on Honeywell Aube timers with manuals for each model number
http://waterheatertimer.org/Aube-timers.html

Manual for T1032 7-day 500 watt timer says it works on florescent lights, but doesn't specifically say compact florescent.

Minimum load is 40 Watts.

Cold weather: I wrote to Aube about rechargeable battery, and they say timer should be located inside house since cold temps (below freezing) will cause display to slow or stop functioning.

Two wire installation: Aube is made for two-wire switch replacement with no ground.

How to wire:
After connecting wires show below, turn on power and push on-off button.
If lights work, timer is correct.
If lights don't work, then reverse wires.

Lost the instructions T1032-33-34-35 can we get them?

http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Aube-T1032-timer.pdf

Aube is a Honeywell product I believe:
The timer seems revolutionary for not requiring a Neutral wire, yet requires no battery either.
Advantage: No more confusing wiring. Simple 7-step programming.
If old switch has 2 wires, the Aube changes to 2-wire application
If old switch is 3-way, the Aube changes to 3-wire application, the only major change is jumper on other 3-way switch
