HI, Packard Bell Easynote L4, switches off about 5 seconds after being switched on. have already purchased new charger, no change. Any suggestions Thanks
Thanks for quick response. Same result. I can, if I am quick enough, press F2 and enter the BIOS screen. That seems OK. RegardsThanks for quick response. Same result. I can, if I am quick enough, press F2 and enter the BIOS screen. That seems OK.

Hi, Laptop is unusable. If I am quick enough I can press F2 and enter BIOS. As soon as I exit that the pc shuts down, the screen goes blank etc BUT the power light is still on. All I can then do is to hold the power button down for 10 secs to completely power down. Could this actually be a problem with the hard drive? regardsHi, Laptop is unusable.

Re: HI, Packard Bell Easynote L4, switches off after 5...
No..this is a motherboard issue. if the power won't stay on, even without a battery, then it's the m/b..replacement is a bit dicey, but not impossible. The hard drive with data should be fine.

Does the whole keyboard not work or only some keys?
Try the following shut down the computer , disconnect the power cable and remove the battery from underneath then press power button for about 20 seconds then reconnect the battery and the mains power and switch on the laptop again.
Did you spill any liquid on the keyboard?
Yes there is a switch for enabling and disabling wireless on laptops. For Packard Easynote L4 the wireless can be enabled by doing the following actions: 1.press the Fn key (which is in the bottom lefthand corner of the keypad) and press F1(function) key together (Fn + F1) 2. this should enable wireless on your computer.
I would try a BIOS update first. Go to the manufacturer website and find the BIOS update for your model. Also, you mentioned replacing the memory. Are you positive it is the correct memory? Were you having the problem before you replaced the memory? If you have the wrong memory in a computer it will give a "beep code" and won't boot up.
The battery is probably faulty, try a different one. If it does the same thing with a different battery, then must be a short in behind the battery socket on the laptop. In that case better take it to service.
