Carrier jam Lexmark 4300

I get an error message to clear carrier jam - but it isn't jammed. When I try to print something the carrier zooms accross from the right, smashes into the left hand side hard enough to move the wole printer by about a centimetre - then it immediately zooms across to the right again crashing into the side with a loud bang and at great force. When I open the cover the cartiridge carrier does not come out into the middle - I have to pull it out to check the cartridges. I can't print anything. Ive cleaned all the contacts etc. what can I do the printer is only six months old.

I had this same problem, I found a long skinny thin plastic strip had fallen off & caused the problem for me. The plastic strip has slits at each side to attach to the inside back of printer, on the left side is a down ward facing arrow, the plastic strip feeds through the back middle of the cartridge carrier and then the slits are to be inserted to the metal tab like pieces on the back sides inside the printer on the right side (facing printer) it will look like a small rectangular hole with a longer metal tab like piece sticking out & on the left is a smaller squared like hole with a flat smaller metal like tab which will line up if the plastic strip is feed through the back of the cartridge carrier properly. This should allow the cartridge carrier to glide properly & work as it should, with no more banging! Sorry my tech. terminology isn't good, I am not Knowelegable with this sort of thing, just sharing my experience :) HTH!

    awesome thanks jj

Cripes that really fiddly to do, the plastic strip was loose on mine so tried to put it back. Appeared to have done it but it came off again when i powered the printer back up. Might need to get a new one!!
    Thanks for the solution.

On the bottom of the ink cartridge carrier (under the metal bar) is a small tab that must be present to interrupt a light sensor,
you should see it enter this small square sensor . that keeps the carrier synced.
Perhaps this is broken off or the sensor is dirty/bad.
if not broken.
insert a flattened q-tip with cleaner into the sensor to clean.
if it comes out with ink on it keep cleaning it.

What is the next best solution if, Coldcut solution does not
work? Should i just invest into a new printer or will Lexmark
replace the part that is defective. I have had printers that lasted
longer. I have only purchased Lexmark printers. Please advise!

Carrier jam on lexmark x5070 how do I fix it or clear it?

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:
  1. Open the printer cover to access the cartridge area. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
  2. Remove both cartridges from the printer.
  3. Check the cartridge area and make sure encoder strip is not loose. The encoder strip is transparent strip located behind the cartridge carrier along with the carrier belt.
  4. If encoder strip is properly seated in the printer, close the printer cover.
  5. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, re-insert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors. The carrier jam could be due to one of the cartridges.
  7. If no error appears, re-insert the other cartridge.
  8. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear.
  9. If no error appears, try to print again to verify that the carrier jam issue is fixed.
We hope this information has been helpful.

Carrier jam

From what you are saying you are getting 'clear carrier jam' because of a misalignment. The jam error message is a generic message that applies to a multitude of things. The carrier while is in right, might not be sitting right. A piece of plastic that holds the carrier might be broken or the printhead might be messed up. Anything that causes it to not sit the way it wants will cause that error message.

Error 1203 and carrier jam error

Error 1203 on a Lexmark is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad... I would suggest you to try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..

If that doesn't work just call up their support number and check for replacement..

Dell 942 carrier jam

This morning I replaced the cartridges in the Dell 942 printer, they jammed to the left which made a loud grinding noise and the cartridge jam error came on.

I solved the problem by turning the printer on with the top up which moved the cartridges to the right a little so I could reach back, push one down a little manually which freed them to move over to the middle.
