Blue glow from everything blue

I have a philips 51" tv and the problem i am having is that the tv has a pretty picture, but the images on the screen that are blue have a blue glow around them or you can say they are extra bright. Has anybody seen this problem before and what could it possibly be?

thats a fairly easy fix. You need the DPTV305-DPTV345 convergence repair kit available at the following link.

I have a glow or a shadow around everything I watch...I tried the converse blue but i dont know if i did it right bc it didnt work...how can I fix that?

CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed. Notice how dull the colors are and how white the screen looks. The screen may also look red, orange, dull, etc.

TV set after fluid change. Notice how bright the colors are now. Everthing looks crisp and sharp again.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Blue Glow

Chad, sounds like "FROGGY" coolant to me, Philips brand tv`s are infamous for this problem usually the green & blue tubes, you can confirm this by removing the back cover (carefully it`s heavy and has a large mirror attatched to the inside) turning tv on and look directly into the red lens, you will see a clear image, now look into green & blue and there probably very cloudy. Bad news is this is a very long, dirty, job and very diffiicult for a layperson, if you want to attempt it you MUST buy the service manual (any tv shop can order it for you) I would also advise you to NOT buy philips fluid as the **** they sell will become cloudy again (I use RCA cause it works and it`s cheap) good luck if you attempt it, I would advise you to calll a tech, video-tek

Double and curved image on blue warm-up screen

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull
