Sounds like the spaghetti cable for the antenna is broken or has become unsoldered.... but to confirm...
Remove the reset probe from the top of the "pen" and insert it in the Reset hole in the back of the unit....

After the unit comes up, simply page over to the "obtaining satellites" page and see if you are getting signals. Of course you MUST be outside and you must NOT be under trees.

If no satellite data is received within 1 minute, your antenna (or its interfacing circuit) is not functioning.
At that point, repair is almost not worth it. You can get a new GPS for well under 100 bucks.... and Garmin will not even Look at your unit for that sum of money.

I have a ifinder hunt GPS, it will not locate any satellites, it then prompts me to stop searching or continue to search for satellites. I have been trying this device over the last 10 months, mostly on...

With a normal GPS device, when you first switch it on, it needs some time to locate enough satelites. Most of the time it needs at least 5 satelites. Some time should be like minutes and not hours. After the GPS device fond enough satelites, it knows where it is and can when it is switched on again work faster. When you try to let the GPS search for satelites indoors, or without a free view to the sky, it is possible the receiver never can find satelites at all.
I don't know if any test of the Lowrance iFINDER Hunt GPS was placed on the net, but that is where you can check how long it should take for the GPS to find enough satelites.

Greetings . . . I turned my Garmin 2720 on in my

Take the GPS out of your van to an area with a clear view of the sky. Power the unit on. If the unit is working correctly, then it will acquire the satellites. You can then put the unit back in your van. You may have to reposition the unit to keep the satellite lock.

If the unit does not acquire satellites outside, then the unit is defective.

The fan on my satellite L645D-S4050 runs constantly and drains the battery very quickly. Battery life is about an hour as opposed to the advertised 4 hours. I have seen mention of installing and...

First Visit http://support.toshiba.com up top Click "Download" and search out your Toshiba Model Laptop. You could try a BIOS upgrade for it, it won't hurt anything, but I seriously doubt your fan is draining the battery that fast, even if it does run all the time. It's possible there is dust in there causing the fan to run all the time, or your power management settings need adjusting. Although the BIOS upgrade, if applicable, may help the fan, and should, frankly, be run anyway if available. I'd be seeking another battery to try, or maybe just buy a new one. If you get 4 hours you're good to go, from my experience laptop batteries die and just need replacing.

The location displayed is not where I am. It is stuck and will not move. Only the small bar is red for service. What can I do to fix this.

hi, first plug it in to a known good car charger or home charger...charge it up for a few hours (a low battery will hamper satellite reception)

take your gps outside in clear view of the open sky and turn it on, then give it up to 30 minutes to lock on to the satellites...if it still wont lock let me know by replying and ill help you further.

if you are moving before the satellites lock on, it is much harder and takes longer to lock on...

Unit is searching for gps signal but unable to

charge it up via the usb to computer cable for a few hours, then take it outside in clear view of the open sky and restart the unit and let it sit there up to 30 minutes.

if that fails, an update will probably cure the problem.

to find updates for your tomtom, download tomtom home Here if you dont have it already and follow the instructions after running tomtom home.

My GPS receiver cannot switch on. The battery is fully charged. When i press the ON button, it keeps blinking searching for satellite but when i release the button, it will turned off. what should i do?

It could be over charged. You can either leave it in the GPS for several days, or find out the voltage and hook up the corresponding number of light bulbs (Flashlight or LEDs) to drain it. If you have a voltage meter try checking the volts and amps being output, this should match your batteries specifications.

My Garmin has stopped finding destinations - just says "Searching for Satellite)+

I had the same problem with my Nuvi 310. Found a solution in here that works. Here's a copy of the advice.....note you will need to get in the car and set it for a destination and go. 5-10 mins later the Garmin Nuvi will lose the satellites, but don't adjust it it, leave it on and keep going. Eventually after about an hour it will right itself, pick up the satellites and evrything will be back to normal.

Here's the advice:

I experienced the same problem about acquiring satellite signal even when it's a clear sunny day. After 30 mintues, it was still searching!
The unit appeared to have "stuck" in this acquiring mode. The following worked for me:
1) open the GPS antenna
2) press the bottom left screen while holding the power button to turn the unit on
3) enter maintenace mode
4) select diagnostics
5) clear error report, do NOT clear any user data
6) restart unit the usual way

My GPS 350 was able to acquire satellite signal in less than 1 minute after the above steps were taken.

Garmin eTrex Legend

Do the following: 1 - Make sure you have fresh batteries in the unit and turn the unit on. 2 - Check the GPS date and Time. On the Main Menu at the bottom of the screen, you can see a date and time. If the date and time are not current, then the clock is your problem. You will have to wait for the almanac information to be updated. Details are below in a later section. 3 - Make sure your GPS is in the Normal Mode and not a demo mode. Verify other systems settings. Go to the main menu and click on Setup icon. From the Setup screen, access the System screen icon. Verify the following settings: GPS: normal WAAS: Enabled Language: English or your choice. Battery: Set according to your battery types. 4 - Check your GPSs Version Software. Go to the main menu and click on Setup icon. From the Setup screen, access the System screen icon. From the System screen, access the sub-menu icon in the upper right bar. Select "Software Version" from the list. Verify the actual software version for me. The latest version available for the eTrex Legend is version 3.90 dated March 2008. http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=711 Update the unit using this latest software and using Garmin's Webupdater. http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp If that won't work, use the following download page to access the latest software updates per units. http://www8.garmin.com/support/blosp.jsp 5 - Resetting your GPS clock and almanac information Next you may need to acclimate your unit to a new date and time (almanac information). If you had your unit off and without batteries for over a month since you last accessed satellites, then your clock and almanac information may be incorrect. Even Garmin acknowledges this problem after software updates and the problem with accessing satellites. They state: "unit data including alamanac information may be incorrect or cleared. Back up all user data before upgrading. After installation is complete, place unit with a clear view of the sky for 15-30 minutes to re-acquire almanac data. " I know of no way to reset the clock using the GPS menus. All I can suggest is that you do the following: A - turn the unit on and wait 5 minutes or so for the "Poor Satellite Reception" screen to appear. See page 7 of the owner's manual. B - Set the "new location" to your area using the map when the "poor satellite reception screen" appears. Be sure to use the "map" option and not the "automatic". C - Set the GPS outside with a clear view of the sky. Check on it every 10 minutes. When the "Poor Satellite Reception" screen appears again, then click on "Restart Search". The "Restart Search" option is used when the date provided in the GPS is not today's date. (See page 7 of the Owner's manual for an example) Legend Owners Manual: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/eTrexLegend_OwnersManual.pdf D - Once the GPS can track 4 satellites, then the clock should reset and you should be fine. This process could take up to an hour. I have had this problem with my eTrex Vista and eTrex Legend (both backup GPSs) and resolved it by having the clock reset. In fact, I just tried my eTrex Legend today after not using it for many months and storing it without batteries and it had this same problem. I followed the steps above to fix the problem. This took about 35 minutes.
