How to create an exe book

If you've created your own ebook, its probably in PDF format which is great but submitting your PDF to ebook directories is not an easy task and You may be asked for additional file formats. Here comes the exe book. It is an executable file for windows containing your ebook.

How to create it?

1. As You have the ebook content in a format that can be edited, all you need is to copy and paste to a blank HTML page created with notepad or any web editor. Now you have your ebook as a HTML document which is not protected and can be copied and changed by anyone. So you need to protect your file from editing and changing (your contents).

2. Here comes the EXE conversion. As the executable file is much secure holder for your ebook content, you have to convert the HTML into an executable aplication (EXE file). There are many software for this, but I preffer freeware and WebSiteZip Packer from Spadix is the perfect tool for this job. With WSZ you load the HTML page with your book content, set the parameters such as window size, toolbars, security options (password and expiration date) and build exe. Built in wizard will guide you thru the process and you'll have your own exe book in minutes.

How to Use Qfixapp.exe In Windows XP

This article describes the Quick Fix utility (Qfixapp.exe) that is included with the Application Compatibility Toolkit for Windows XP and Windows .NET. Qfixapp.exe is a tool that includes pre-packaged fixes that provide an easy way to fix a program.

Use Qfixapp.exe To Apply Program Fixes

You can use Qfixapp.exe to quickly apply various program fixes (AppFixes, also known as "shims") to a program to determine their effectiveness. Qfixapp.exe reads the %SystemRoot%\windows\apppatch\sysmain.sdb database to produce a list of available fixes. When you select an AppFix, you can start the program executable (.exe) file, and the AppFix will be applied. If a suitable AppFix is found, the tool eventually helps you to generate and test matching file information. When you run Qfixapp.exe, you see the following items:
  • The The application for which to apply the fix(es) check box. This setting disables existing fixes in the database.

  • The Layer tab with the Choose one of the existing layers to apply to your app box that contains the following entries:

    256 Color
    640X480
    Disable Themes
    Internaltional
    LUA(Limited User Account)
    LUACleanUp
    NT4SP5
    ProfilesSetup
    Win2000
    Win95
    Win98

  • The Fixes tab. On this tab you can select the individual fixes that you want to apply.
Example of How to Use Qfixapp.exe 1. Start Notepad, and then click About Notepad on the Help menu. Note that the version is 5.1.

2. Start Qfixapp.exe, click Win95, click Browse, and then open the Windows folder. Note that the Windows\System32 folder is protected by Windows File Protection, so it is not able to use the layers.

3. Click Notepad.exe, click Open, and then click Run.

4. Start Notepad, and then click About Notepad on the Help menu. Note that the version is now 4.0.

If you click ViewLog, you could see what AppFix(es) are being used. If you click Advanced, you could see information about the .exe file. You can click Add Matching Info, and then select files that are related to the .exe file to identify that particular program. After you finish that step, you could click Create Fix Support to add the layers with the Matching Information (GRABMI) and create an XML-based database that is named YourAppName.sdb. Note that in the preceding example it is named Notepad.sdb, and is in the AppPatch folder.

I downloaded the steam edition of Microsoft flight sim X but keep getting error message 'Steam initialisation failed' when I try to run it, any ideas??

Try to reset your steam files:

Windows XP/Vista/7/8

  • Completely exit the Steam client.
  • Open the run dialogue by pressing windows key + r (you can also navigate here from the start menu by typing run).
  • Type steam://flushconfig then press enter. (If asked to allow this website to open a program, please click Allow or OK).
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now, launch Steam directly from the installation folder, not from a pre-existing shortcut (~C:\program files (x86)\Steam).
  • The Steam application will either appear as Steam or Steam.exe depending on whether your settings show file extensions.

When i downloaded adobe acrobat, all i seem to have is a file that opens with text edit and is alot of numbers. What do i do to download it correctly?

Hi,
The file you have downloaded is OK. The problem is with your PC.
When you double-click an .EXE file, the program may not launch, instead it may open in Notepad (displaying the .exe contents), or may launch in any other application like notepad. It is due to the incorrect .exe file association caused accidentally or probably due to a virus activity and you get the result similar to the following:

creativetech.png
SOLUTION
Download EXEFIX-XP
EXE-FIX (VISTA) OR EXEFIX-VISTA
EXEFIX utility and save to Desktop. Double-click the file to run it. This utility fixes the .exe file association in the registry automatically.

You may also use REGISTRY PATCH (for Windows XP)

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

How to solve the problem"*.exe

This error is generally an indication that the written program isn't designed to be run in the 32 bit windows environment, the program is corrupted, or an error occured while trying to run the program. It is generally due to an older program being run within windows.

The newer windows versions are mostly 32 bit platforms. Some of the old programs from windows 95 and 98 eras won't work because they are 16 bit programs. Examples may include older programs with a .com extension (which will bring up this error message), or old versions of .exe's written for 16 bit environments.

If the program you are attempting to run is a recent program (came with your version of windows XP or later) then it could be an error at execution or the program is corrupted. If the program is written by a major brand and is relatively new, contact the program's technical support number for help.

If you suspect a program error, try and obtain another copy of the program. Uninstall the current copy of the program, restart your computer, then install a fresh copy. If the error continues after doing this, then contact the program manufacturer's technical support number.

If the program you are using is one of the programs from within windows, (from the system 32 folder for example, and include notepad.exe, msconfig.exe, or other programs that can be selected and run from within this folder) do NOT remove or copy over the program. Some of the programs within the windows sub-directories are older 16bit programs, not designed to run within the 32bit platform. It is recommended to NOT remove any of these programs from the windows sub directories.

What program should i use to open files they dont open with internet explorer

A file is usually open by the computer only when the associated program is installed in the system. The associated program recognize the file extension and open it.

For Example :A notepad file will be open by Notepad editor untill and unless you cange it to open with other program.

Microsoft Word can open a notepad file too.

Files usually you will find or will downloaded from internet are usually .exe, .rar, .zip, mp3, .avi, pdf etc.

I recommended, you installed these few softwares

1. Adobe Flash player.

http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

2. Adobe Reader.

http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.2/enu/AdbeRdr920_en_US.exe

3.Jave runtime

4. Winrar

http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar391.exe

Don't if you are not sure of the application to open a file.Download
"Irfanview".below is the link

It will open almost any files.

That's it.

Dvd drive unable to read empire total war disc

I have the same problem. Some DVD drives seem to have a problem with the protection on the Empire disc (and other games). Might have to do with this Securom/Windows thing.

But here is my solution
1. Install Steam
2. Make Steam install the game from the disc, using its local EXE.
i.e. run:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

Starting Steam.exe from your HDD rather than the setup.exe from the DVD bypasses this disc protection issue.

Alternatively, you can enter the CD-KEY in Steam and download the game from the Net.

Either way, Steam saved the day although everyone was complaining about using it for Empire

Scanner

Hi, yes if the scanner model is auto install by XP or your OS then it is possible. however, some features maynot be available. if you want a full install using the canon drivers + other features, you may download the driver at (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=6623). you may have to allow pop ups for the drivers page to appear. also you have to select the operating system where the scanner is intended to be installed upon. The file is a single executable (lide30win7031en.exe)5.27Mb in size. Upon completion of download, install by clicking on the downloaded exe file. Good luck and hope this works for you. Pls post again how things turn up.
