Write suzuki directly, or contact them, first try your local suzuki dealer , if that doesnt work try corporate offices. This is a very common problem that occurs alot in most suzuki's. I myself just bought a 2001 vitara 2 weeks ago & have the same problem. It starts up fine in the morning but if I stop somewhere with the car & let it idle , it starts to stall & shut off completely & then I have to wait 10 to 20 minutes before it will turn on. Suzuki should admit to this problem & have a recall. I have read hundreds of articles of people all over the states with the same problem. The dealers are telling everyone " well we dont know what the problem is". Its their JOB! They should know!

SOURCE: SUZUKI VITARA 2.0 V6 PETROL ENGINE

I suggest either a "Haynes" or "Chilton" repair manual. They are both very informative concerning complete engine tear down.

SOURCE: suzuki vitara kick down cable

From memory, the tranmission pan will have to be removed. This is messy, and care has to be taken to avoid contamination entering the trans. The cable has probably rusted from off-road use in water and now gear changes are very harsh and sudden.

Check the left (drivers side) frame rail in front of the fuel tank, near rear axle.

2002 vitara stalls after running for awhile?

You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.
Is the check engine light on ?

My suzuki grand vitara is not starting after a roll over

No roll over switch on this model, pull the spark plugs and clean them, turn it over with the plugs out with rags over the motor to catch any oil. then put the plugs in and try it again, it won't take much oil on the plugs to stop it starting.
