I have a older Delta shower head/tub combination with scald protection. It leaks from the tub diverter. Where should I start?

I'm assuming that you have a three handle faucet. You need to remove the diverter from the faucet body and while your at it remove the hot and cold stems from the valve body (the parts are inexpensive). Remove the seats inside of the valve body towards the back, replace with new ones. If stems are in good shape, just the washers and seats need to be replaces. If the brass on the diverter or on the hot or cold stems is pitted or marred, then replace the whole thing. The parts should be readily available at most plumbing supply places.

Hi Jeff sorry about your problem. Just wanted to ask about what you mean pops out. When you try to get water to the shower head the spout "pops out" and water just goes back to the tub? If this is the case it sounds like your diverter on the spout has failed. I favor the Delta one that you have to pull the chromed plastic area where the water discharges instead of the one with the knob you have to pull up to get it to divert the water to the shower head.
These both are available at your local plumbing supply store not the big box store always but I have noticed them at the HD in Honolulu. I hope this helps if not a photo goes a long way. Dave.

I have a leak under my bathtub/shower it only leaks when the shower is on.It's not the drain or the pipe up to the shower head
There may be some leakage in pipe.Take the help of experts.Nowadays there are many leak detection services that can help in solving such problems.

I put in a new delta shower valve and when I run water to the tub, water comes out of the shower as well. Water constantly comes out the shower even if the tub diverter is not pushed down. How do I fix it?

The handle on the delta diverter will only go from cold to the ''12 o'clock'' position. It will not go over any further counter clockwiseto the hot side. Both shower tubs have this problem. Is there...
that is the way they are made. they are pressure balanced to reduce the risk of scallding.
however there is an adjustment that will allow a little more hot water. if you remove the handle, there is a small plastic disk, remove that, under that you will see a small ring with what looks like gear splines... pull out slightly and turn counter clockwise a few notches. reinstall the plastic disk and test.

if you don't get enough hot water, adjust again. only adjust a couple of notches at a time. you don't want to scald yourself in the shower.

Water start leaking under the house when you pull the deverter up to turn the shower on, its floods out bad!
I'm assuming the leak is in the wall somewhere between the on/off lever or knob and the shower head. It is a good chance that it is the mixing-valve. It could also be where the shower head screws into the drop-eared 90*. If it is the mixing valve, it is either ruined, or a bad seal that might be replaceable. If it is busted piping the wall will have to be opened up to replace it. Good chance that the arm to the shower head is leaking at the threads where it screw into the wall. Good luck.

Pull down shower diverted works, but allows bypass into tub
The diverter is supposed to leak a little bit, so it will disengage after you turn off the water. If the water is leaking out a little, that's normal. But if it is really leaking out you may need to replace the entire spout.

Delta 134900 handle Water coming out faucet and shower both
well the Diverter is not working it dose not matter the distance. when applied it should shoot the water to shower or tub if not working will come both.

Water sprays out the diverter
Remove hot/cold button in handle, remove screw/pull off handle. Remove the two screws in the wall plate/remove plate. Use a wrench to remove the diverter assembly. Get new diverter assy and reinstall eveything. You don't need to turn off the water.
