Toshiba Satellite P105-S6227 Notebook Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 27, 2009

I have vertical lines (15 of them now) on my Toshiba laptop.

I have vertical lines (15 of them now) on the right side of the LCD panel of my P105-S6227 Toshiba laptop. They appeared 1 or 2 at a time, are randomly spaced and are aqua, yellow, or pink. They are 1 pixel wide and when starting to appear they flicker a bit and then show up to stay. I am very careful not to bang it around but it does travel a-lot. I have tried disabling/uninstalling graphics card and memory removal, no change. Running Vista Home 32bit. Screen replacement is $$! Any ideas??

Thanks Parrothead I will just replace the screen at those prices. While I have it apart can the cpu(Core duo T5200) and/or graphics "card"(GeForce Go 7600) be upgraded on this model?

I'm afraid when you see vertical line on an lcd panel, it most likely is screen failure. Ebay has plenty of screen from good companies in Texas. I get most of my screens from Ebay store LCDTECH99. They have the best prices, most screens are under 100 bucks and they ship right away. The Toshiba screen is an easy repair, Only the bezel needs to be removed in most cases. Below is a guide to show the process.

Most laptops have integrated graphics processors, you can tell if your does by its specifications. Look at the graphics information and if it has an "M" after the number , like a Gforce Go 7600m then it is a chip soldered onto the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. Also, the processor on your system is the T5200, runs at 533 mhz fsb, the only other chip that matches the spec. for fsb speed and manufacturing process which is 65nm is the T5300 which runs only slightly faster than the T5200.

Sorry, you'll have to live with it, LCD screens are not repairable, they're only replaceable.

Vertical blue lines onscreen on the right side . Happens no matter what input including menu.. they appear over the menu . It's a Toshiba regza.

Vertical lines on an lcd screen are caused from the solder joints on the edge of the lcd panel coming loose. You can verify this by pressing on the edge of the screen above the lcd and the lines vanish. The fix is to either wedge something behind to hold pressure on it, solder it (which is difficult to do) or replace the screen.

Jst a few months back i had bought dell inspiron laptop n it was working on very well but suddely i got to a vertical green line on the right hand side of my laptop screen.... could you please tell me the...

You should have a video plug on the side of your laptop. It might be a 9 pin plug or a 15 pin plug. You can attach an external monitor or LCD monitor to this plug. If the green line displays on the external monitor then your video circuit on your laptop is faulty. If the line is not present on external display then your laptop LCD display panel is defective.

More of a Toshiba statement.

My 52 in regza has a vertical line on the right side as well just under 2 years old, out of warranty and to costly to repair, I paid $2500 as well. The TV has been on its stand since the day I bought it and has been moved once.
I have read of others who have this problem as well, just google toshiba regza red line, or vertical line
I Too will never buy Toshiba products and I will tell everyone I can about the **** LCD Toshiba

Vertical lines on screen

Everything can be fixed.

Try hooking up your laptop to an external monitor. If you get lines then the problem is the video card.

If not, it's the lcd, usually it is anyways.

Just replace the lcd and your problem is gone.

Best of luck!

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

This could be a failure in several areas along the path from the video card to the monitor.

Being that there is not an issue across the entire monitor the video card should be considered a last resort check.

Usually this is caused by a loose connection between the LCD driver and the LCD panel itself. Sometimes light pressure applied near the affected line will clear it up. If that does then it is a connection between the LCD panel and the connector to the LCD driver at the panel's edge.

Not much can be done unless you have it repaired by a professional or you can take it apart yourself and apply a pad of some type inside the monitor's edge to apply the needed pressure once assembled.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

My understanding is that you have 2 laptops with the same problem, if that is the case, you need to replace the lcd. When you have lines on lcd's, that is a sign of a bad lcd.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Hi,
what i recommend you to test is to press behind your monitor and see that the line goes off or not.If it does..that mean you have a loose connection,it can be fix.Incase no then you have problem with your LCD.Normally if its LCD problem then you fix this problem, all you have to do is change the LCD.
goodluck,takecare.
