The thermostat is located in the back, behind the back panel and mouted on the air discharge from the drum before it entered the blower that blows it out via the vent. They are normally snap-disc style thermostats and can be ordered from sears parts direct online or purchased at most sears appliance parts stores. Gas dryers also have at least two over-temperature devices to prevent an overheat condition that may lead to a fire. One is normally a snap-disc thermostat (some with a manual reset) and the second is usually a thermal-fuse that must be replaced...not reset. 110 gas dryers use a lot less electricity than 220 electric dryers since all they have to do is turn the drum and blow the air (heat comes from a gas flame) where the 220-volt electrics have electric heating elements that comsume large amounts of power. Yes, I would consider then safe as long as they are vented correctly.

Does this dryer require 110 or 220 amps?

A gas dryer usually only takes 110 volts not amps. All electric dryers take 220 volts.

Kenmore gas dryer model 110 775 42600 won't heat what is wrong

ELECTRIC Dryer no heat or little heat:

Check your venting and lint basket. Check blower for lint build up and blower wheel obstruction., test by trying to turn the wheel manually by hand (should be easy) May have to remove cabinet or front/back plate to get to it)

Next check the heating element itself with a meter for continuity OHMS CLOSED CIRCUIT. If not its defective.

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage. 220 because if u only get half or 110 volts you will be able to run the machine which uses only 110 to run motor but not the heater which uses a full 220,

Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.

I have a whirlpool dry mod#5636 in my home I have 110 the cord on the dryer is for 220 can I change it to 110 and will it work right..

No it will not, dryers with 110 volt plugs heat on gas,220 dryers heat with electric, putting a 110 vac plug on dryer for 220vac,the motor will run but it will not heat
your 2 options are

1) have a electrician come and run 220 vac circuit

2) purchase a gas dryer

I have a lg dryer with a 220 electric hook up plug and in my house there is only a 110 electrical outlet. is there any way I can just change out the cord to a 110 electric cord and use it?

No. the new dryers have to have a 220V power. You first have to replace or add a 220 outlet on the wall that matches the connector on the dryer.

My drier 110 volts was accidentally plugged to 220

The least of your problems would be a burnt out relay or internal switch which can be replaced at reasonable expense. In a worst case the motor or heating element "fried" and it'll be cheaper to buy a new dryer.
BTW 110 and 220 plugs are entirely different and a 110 plug cannot be plugged into a 220 outlet.

The dryer runs but does not heat up

Depending on your heat source (gas or electric), your problem could be one of the following:

* if electric: heat element, thermostat or timer

* if gas: gas coils, radiant sensor, thermostat or timer

Note: In either case, check to ensure that the dryer is receiving the proper amount of electricity (110 volts for gas & 208-220 volts for electricity).

How change to 220 dryer machine to 110

its a good idea, but you cant,
the elements are set up for heat through resistance
on 220 you actaly have 110 on both sides of the heater,
if you want a 110 dryer your gonna have to go with gas, or buy a dryer manufactured for 110 heat, but Ive been doing this for alot of years and I have oonly seen like 3 and I dont remember the manufacture
sorry i could help more
but you should be answered, it was a good question

Is my dryer 220 or 110 volts

If your dryer has a standard cord (looks like a extention cord) than you can not hook it into 220, it is a gas dryer if you have that plug. If you have a electric dryer it will have a much larger plug and vcan only be plugged into 220
