When i plug inn the mp3 to the compu ter it reads it for lika 10 seconds then it dosent read it then when i turn it on it says boot error plase format unit but how if the computer dosent read it ..?

It might be cause by a corrupt firmware. You need to have a utility that restore the mp3 player to its original setting. i had exactly the same problem with my ipod shuffle 1st generation 2 years ago. Good thing Apple has that utility for me to download and until no it is still working.
