Problem with Asus notebook

I'll try to make this as short as possible. The screen on my laptop started doing horizontal jumping/skipping. Sent back to Asus under warranty. They replaced the screen the AC adapter and DVDRW. It was sent back and started the same problem right away.

Sent it to Asus a second time. They said they found a problem with the motherboard and replaced it. I don't use the laptop much but recently used it to watch some DVD's and burn some pictures onto disks. It worked for many hours over a period of a few days and then the screen started doing the same thing again.

I hooked up the laptop to my regular PC monitor and the jumping was only happening on the laptop screen, not the PC monitor. Does this confirm it is a problem with the laptop screen then?

If so, what is causing this? Is the second screen they put on a dud too? Can overheating be causing this?

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. I will be phoning ASUS again, but I don't know if they are going to help me anymore at this point. I don't use the laptop very often so about 8 months has passed since they last sent it back to me.

Thanks for the info. I will be phoning them tomorrow. Is there anything else I can do at home to test what is going on? I think it is a cooling problem since it seems to do it when watching a DVD or burning a DVD. I can't believe it is doing it again though when the screen and supposidly the motherboard have been replaced. Maybe they good have saved a lot of money and put in a new fan!

I'm worried they are going to say too bad because it is not under warrant anymore, but they have never fixed the orginal problem.

It is your laptop screen. You may have a cooling problem, screen or motherboard. Since this is your 3rd time trying to get this repaired. I would speak to a manager explain what has happened and demand a new replacement laptop.

My asus eee pc900hd runs on (skip spaces) while

Well the easiest way to narrow the root of the problem would be to eliminate whether or not this is a software related problem.
So basically you will want to do a fresh install of the operating system. If this fixes the issue GREAT! if not your keyboard is more than likely experiencing a short.
Think of your keyboard as a grid of horizontal and vertical wires, when you press a key, that key makes 1 horizontal and one vertical wire connect this tells the computer which key is being pressed that it is also making a connection for the spacebar.

If you need more clarification or help feel free to leave additional comments but I would start with backing up any files you have and formatting the harddrive and reinstalling the operating system

Your Bulb is DUE, you need to change it, Don't do it your self contains mercury. Your LCD is good IF you do not have bad PIXELS. This white and pink lines shows as pixel problem but it migth also short on LCD, if you placed something heavy on Laptop. You may remove and sent the LCD for repair or all laptop to tech.
You may also need to check inverter. I give service around the Country but it is up to you. My company name is JMC TECHS INC. Registered in Miami Florida. (Check [email protected] if you like to contact me.

Third time with LCD problem after repairs.

The original repairs should be covered. Check your paperwork . If they give you a hassle, tell them you are going to report them the BBB. and your states attorney generals office.
Who knows maybe they will cover it again...The extra ram should have nothing to do with it, unless you broke something.
