I have a lexmark 8300 all in one printer, i have attempted o install it using the software disk provided, that was unsuccessful, i then downloaded the drivers for vista, when i tried to install the new drivers, i was advised to unstall the previous drivers before i culd install the new one, problem!!, will not allow me to unstall, states that unstall is not reponding, i have swithc off my firewall, nil happened, please, please how do i get this to install, heeelp.

Having the very same problem... Got a new computer with Vista Home Basics operating system, and I have tried and tried to install the Lexmark 8300 series. It has been to no avail. Has any one figured this mess out??? Tried turning off the firtewall also, but still no go. Please Help!!!!
Hey guys,, Well you can try this and this will help(by all means it should)
METHOD 1
restore your system to a previous date (one before you installed the printer off the xp cd)
Install the driver's using the windows vista drivers..
METHOD 2(RECOMMENDED BUT MORE DIFFICULT)
THE FIRST THING IS TO REMOVE THE OLD DRIVERS
ensure your printer is connected to your computer and the power is on
step 1.) click start / right click computer and select properties
2.) click device manager
or START / Controll panel
Click Classic View the device manager
3.) Click View then show hidden devices
4.) right click on the printer and click uninstall
5.) Unplug your printer usb from your computer
6.) RESTART
7.) INSTALL THE PRINTER WITH THE VISTA DRIVERS YOU DOWNLOADED..
ps REMEMBER NOT TO PLUG IN YOUR PRINTER UNTIL THE SETUP SOFTWARE TELLS YOU TO DO SO
BTW IF YOU CONT HAVE THE VISTA DRIVERS YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THEM FROM THE MANUFACTURES WEB SITE

Help I am having the same problem installed disks and now computer is saying no communication or something I have tried everything am gonna mess up my computer!!. Jeez it would take a rocket scientist to figure this out please help before I throw this in the trash or burn it!!!!!

Hi, same problem as frustrated student. I downloaded the drivers for vista, but when i tried to install the new drivers, i was advised to unstall the previous drivers before i could install the new one. Since then, the computer (Acer-Windows Vista Basic) cannot connect to the Lexmark 8300 series printer.
Please help. This is driving me nuts!

it won't install
I have a friend with a Mac using OS X. She purchased a new printer a Lexmark 8300 all in one printer. The printer only has Windows
drivers and Lexmark's website only has Windows drivers. Can I connect this to her I Mac?
