Sony KP-57WV600 screen

I'm getting light green lines on my television--and the black screen seems to be going green...the volume indicator can't be seen any more.  How can I fix it?

This sounds like the right answer to my problem--

What does a crt tube cost and can I install it myself?

    Thanks.

So I won't shock the shit out of myself by opening up and getting into the television? Mine is the KP-57VW600, not the one on the site you are referring me to.

Thanks Rowdy, but it didn't work.  I couldn't figure out how to get the grille off the front of the kp-57wv600.  Took all the screws off I could find, but it still seemed "glued" on--and I didn't want to break it getting it off.  If anyone knows something, I'd love to know the secret to getting the grille off!

Well, I was afraid to take the grille off myself, so I had the repair man come out.  $150.  But worth it, cause I saw how he did it (just like you said, but a little more "elbow grease" than I was putting into it).  He dialed out the green lines (just like you said) and then tapped the crt tube.  It made "flecks" on the screen and he said the tv would one day soon give me a flash of green and then it would be gone.  When it does, I'll probably do what you suggest above--send it away and get another.  Btw, he did all this while the tv was on.  No need for it to be off.  Thanks for your help.

sony no longer sells crt tubes but there is a company called video display which sells tubes(supposedly brand new)_I have my doubts considering I must send crt tube and certain parts then they will send me NEW tube at $152.52...u.s.....they will tell approx what shipping will be....for me only $15 and I'm in Canada....as for fixing... I myself am hoping to remove without repairman but have been told here there is high voltage contained withen set even after being unplugged(regrdless how long) so voltage must be nullified before removal of any kind.as I type I have a post hoping someone will have the answer for just that!!!.lol...chances are you may also have some minor issues as well ...I suggest getting repairman in once atleast to know for sure .....but beware of repairman ....mine wanted $300 for tube, $50 for convergence issue,3 hrs to fix for a $750 repair bill......I looked around and found tube cheaper as stated above which pissed him off so much he won't call back... that company # is 1-800-241-5005...ext 143...and they take c.o.d orders!

barryola .if your reading this ...You Owe Me...lol.........cause i just saved you and everybody reading this .....hundreds and hundreds in$$$$$...........your fix as well as mine is as easy as a turn of a screwdriver....NO SHIT!!.........found this site ......go to www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html... this fix'es all sony rear projection tv's....crt tubes can be adjusted ....so NEVER CHANGE YOUR TUBES...their not the problem....the voltage withen tube changes over time .. and a simple power surge can throw your colour out the window.....my problem was blue lines then solid blue screen then shuts off ,,,,, blinked 7 times ..followed simple instructions and voila my tv is all good again and a philips screwdriver is all I needed.....

i too have kp-57wv600 and it is at that link...if you check this fix applies to all sony rear projection models.....read testimonial(comment) dated 12/26/07 by paul t(near bottom of page).....it explains how to remove our front panel ...and adjusting screw(s) is universal...I tried this last night and my tv is all good.as for voltage ....adjust while tv is unplugged and all is good...it took me alot longer than 5-10 mins. but easy to do ......i just used the link from earlier post to check myself and it's all there....just remember to adjust 1 notch at a time (left or right depends on your tv (i recomend doing at night or dark as possible)

  • Anonymous Jan 23, 2008

ok barry. here we go....1st remove 5 screws each side behind speaker grill(10 screws in total).....facing tv ..now pull bottom of front faceplate toward you (IT WILL NOT BREAK-4 snap clips must be dislodged) ....careful not to pull to far from tv as it has 3 wire harnesses plugged into front panel circuit board.....if panel hasn't completely come off yet.......push top part of panel in and slide downwards and it's off..now you can see small panel containing the 4 screws .once removed all will be revealed as in the site link photos....DO ALL THIS AND ADJUSTMENT WHILE TV IS UNPLUGGED!!....i recomend putting small panel back in(not screwed in) after every adjustment and lean front panel up against tv before plugging back in to see how adjustment worked....let me know how that worked out for ya.

All the troubles I've seen with this model are because of the LIFI lamp. Panasonic warrants the lamp assembly for four years from date of purchase. Call Panasonic toll free hotline or go online for an authorized warranty shop. Good luck

Buzzing and green line

A buzz in the sound usually indicates poor grounding somewhere or bad filter caps in the power supply. Lines moving up the screen used to be common in old tube sets, also indicates bad power. Have you opened up the back for a look?

There seems to be two problems with the unit. The first symptom indiates your convergence IC's needs to be replaced. The second symptom coud be a several things, 1. Bad connections on the Crt board of the green tube, 2. The 200v screen bias voltage supplied by the flyback could have bad connections on it. Seems you have intermittent cold solder joints. Check the D board around the Flyback area for bad connections, or old grey looking solder connections all should look shiny. 3. The Green Crt maybe going faulty, the lines going thru the picture are scan lines and indicates that the Screen controls are to high. But i know you have'nt adjusted these so i would suspect the Green Crt is Faulty. But check solutions 1&2 first, One way to find out if its bad is to unplug the green crt board from the tube and turn the set on if it stays on and does'nt shut down then it is faulty, also while turning on look at the crt's neck for sparks which indicates arching in the tupe and will need to be replaced. Replacing the Convergence IC's will solve the distorted pic issue.
